The first disaster was when my Siamese flooded my house by turning on the water in the bathtub. The second disaster was when my insurance company sent me to Alexander.
We spent the first six days amid their loud, hot dryers while they tore our house apart around us. We even had to dodge nails sticking up from the flooring. Then we finally got moved into a motel and promptly forgotten. No communication at all until the insurance adjuster called me at work and I told him I had heard nothing from Alexander. They called but instead of answers I got smart-ass responses and excuses.
I was by turns ignored and treated rudely from that point on.
They put a sea container in my driveway and loaded it with belongings. I was told if I needed anything out of it they’d get it for me. When repairs took longer than expected I needed a book of checks out of my firebox so I could pay my bills. I had to fight for weeks to get them.
During the wettest summer on record they left my windows open without even making sure screens in place. They repeatedly left my front door open. They left my garage door open. I even stopped for mail one day to find the sea container open. They left lights on in the house. They dumped items from my living room and my back porch out in my yard exposed to the elements. They also tossed their garbage in my yard.
The contents of my bathroom shelves were dumped in the tub with a litter pan thrown in on top. They dumped pots and pans in my kitchen sink, and then got construction debris mixed in with it. They didn’t cover my couch, it was covered in debris and I found a nail in the cushions
They peed in my commode after the water had been shut off and the tank drained - the flooring contractors found that and had to clean it up before they could take out the commode to replace the floor.
They peed on the dumpster in my driveway, in plain sight of the street and I live between the YMCA and the playground.
They broke the ceiling light in the kitchen and I had no say in replacement. They found out at last minute they couldn’t reinstall bathroom vanity and sink, tried to give me no say in that. They installed a POS that was half the size of the one we had, the doors were not level, and one knob not even installed. It did not even sit level to the floor (they tried to say my brand new floor was crooked). The faucet was so cheap it started to drip in less than a month.
They broke my television. I found my living room mirror - broken - in the closet of the upstairs back bedroom. The doors to my kitchen hutch fall off when I open them one off the shelves had nails ripped out of it.
They only partially removed my pellet stove chimney so ashes blew in all over my new floors.
They did such a poor job marking boxes as they packed that we’re lucky to find them on the right floor, let alone the right room. I’ve found boxes of glass ware with no cushioning at all, one not even taped across bottom, just folded. I still have a lot of boxes to unpack, fearful of what else I’ll find broken.
They put canned goods in a rusty wagon, so of course now I have rusty cans. More than once they let my pets out.
When I asked for advice on how to get the musty smell out of my wood furniture I got my head ripped off - they were not responsible for cleaning my furniture.
After being called back several times they finally gave up and put credits on my invoice instead of fixing their mistakes.
They did not do as much damage as my Tony, but I don’t think it wasn’t because they didn’t try, and I’m still waiting for the glass shelf they were going to replace.
