We contacted AOasis with the hopes of putting a pool in our backyard. The salesman was nice and led us through the process. On June 9, we signed the proposal for contract and paid a $1,000 deposit. The subsequent Construction Agreement was signed on June 22. We began the task of clearing our backyard, including the demolition of a large deck, and removal of playset equipment. On July 20, we still had no building permit, but was told by AOasis that the permit would be provided by the end of the week. On July 25, we were informed that the permit had been rejected because the plans exceeded the 50% coverage maximum for our lot size -- something AOasis admitted that they had seen before. The salesman and design manager tried to rework the design, but the city codes were too restrictive. In fact, the size of our lot wasn't even close to being able to have a pool -- something a pool contractor should have known. On September 1, I signed the final Cancellation Notice with a signed note from the salesman that stated, "$1,000 refund due." Throughout the month of September, I heard nothing from AOasis, and kept asking from time to time about my refund via text. Finally, on October 3, I received a check in the mail for $423.00 with a note that the amount was the "remaining balance after plan and permit fees." They led me to believe I'd get a pool, then they led me to believe I'd get a full refund, but at the end of the day, they accepted no responsibility whatsoever. I would recommend thinking twice before doing business with this company.
