This contractor flipped the house that I currently live in. He butchered the new cabinets he installed, the door hinges are wobbly and loose. You can see plenty of extra holes where he stripped out the holes when making his first attempts to screw in the wood screws through the door hinges as he did that on a few of the doors. He cut corners on other work like grouting on tile just because it went under the base board heating covers. Not sure if it was laziness or to save himself a buck because he was running out, could be both. He didn’t seal any grouting either as the tile he didn’t for the shower began to crack and fall apart. The paint jobs were sloppy too as in he got paint on things that were easy to avoid like door handles and droplets on the floor. He also used the wrong paint or perhaps I should say the same paint everywhere. Since he used the incorrect paint on the shelves things stuck and left imprints. It seems like he didn’t understand what type of paint should be used where and why or he just simply didn’t care. I could go on and on about the things you can tell he half assed or just simply didn’t know how to perform the work for. I also wouldn’t trust the contractors like electrician that he supposedly hired as they seem to do unprofessional work as well besides for the installation of he new boiler. I also found out there were no permits were pulled for any work I found out later from the town. Unless he installed it himself, which wouldn’t surprise me, the electrician who installed that breaker box should have his license revoked as it was a mess and there was a breaker that was just hanging out as it was the incorrect breaker anyways. My electrician who I hired to inspect this stated if it was his guy he would’ve fired him immediately on the spot after seeing that kind of work. Also instead of replacing an oil tank that had six inches worth of sludge at the bottom he just put in a downspout from the top to be just above that sludge and still feed the boiler with oil. The problem with this is that you’re only using half the tank capacity at this point and the boiler he put in is gravity fed. Meaning that until I got this feed line re-routed to the bottom with a new and clean oil tank I was constantly having to go bleed the air from the boiler’s fuel line as it frequently became air bound. My guess would be that because I would hope the HVAC technician would know this about the burner of the boiler he’s installing. Lastly this contractor lies. He wrote down on the paper work that there were no water leaks in the basement. The whole reason he had to tear out the completely finished basement was because there was so much water damage and likely black mold as well as it seems like this house had probably been sitting vacant for a time before he decided to take on the project. He even had before and after pictures on his Facebook showing the damage in the basement from the water. I had to deal with the water leaks by digging out the foundation to patch them section by section. I would beware using this contractor and beware and houses he’s worked on. There’s no pride in the work that has been done to my house I can see whatsoever and that’s not the kind of person you want working on your house.
