Apparantly our contractor has multiple names he goes by. The name for our contract was AD Construction, LLC., Same guy. Cesar Alexis Amezquita of Brighton.

We had just moved to Colorado and needed another room for our kids. Our new home had an unfinished basement, so we decided to add 2 rooms, a bathroom and a game room to our home. Our neighbors across the street were doing the same to theirs and recommended Alex. We met with Alex and decided to go with him.
The framing started out okay. The workers showed up daily and actually worked. After the framing, the drywall started, which is where the problems began. It was beyond sloppy. Big gaps between sheets, the edges looked chewed on and it was pieced together and crooked. When I brought this up to Alex he immediately was offended, even though he hadn't seen it, and defended his crew. Turns out they had to redo a large portion because it wasn't salvageble.

I could go on and on about the things that were done incorrectly and had to be redone, the weeks on end where nobody would show up to work, the multiple times our basement failed inspection, but that would take too long.

    So to sum it up:
Our contract started Dec 2017 and was supposed to be completed March 9, 2018. Here we are mid-May. The basement still is not finished. Hasn't even passed final inspection. Alex has most of our money, but won't return our phone calls. There's a hole in one of the walls, there's no mirror or towel rack in the bathroom, our wine rack is non-existant, the closet doors are all crooked, my linen closet has no shelves and the cabinet doors do not close, all of the screens for the windows in my basement have been removed and left to sit outside on the ground and never replaced, there are patches on the walls missing paint, and we have nicknamed one of the walls the exclamation point wall because it is so crooked, it looks like an exclamation mark. We have filed a complain with the BBB and are waiting for some of this to get resolved.

On a side note, he also never finished our neighbors basement. He started out great over there and then dropped off. They ended up firing him and finishing the work themselves in order to get their basement permitted.

I've also heard rumors that Alex was planning on moving to Missouri, probably with our money and I have no doubt, money from other people he swindled as well.

We were polite, we were patient, we were understanding. All we wanted was for our basement to be finished per the contract that we had. Nothing more.

This is in regards about Amezquita Construction ,LLC. and manager Alex Amezquita. We were searching for a reliable and reputable local company to expand our garage and remove a wall inside our home in October of 2015. Mr. Amezquita was one of three we had to come out and see what they could do. Upon meeting Alex he was very professional and polite person. Alex knew what we were looking for in our expansion and demo. He and his crew came out and started a few months later when we requested. the biggest criteria was that we wanted our expansion to look like it had been original to the home, and an afterthought. Mr. Amezquita and his crew did just that. Everyone that has seen the before and after shots cannot believe this was not original. They made the structure very well, matched the garage doors and even the outside color. We would recommend Amezquita Construction LLC to anyone that wants quality and structure when getting work started to completion.

    basement remodel
    $20,000
    100 days

When Alex first contacted me he seemed like a very professional contractor. He claimed he was a Christian and always did right by people. He gave me a discount on his services and had several references who had positive things to say about him. He wrote up a contract for a turnkey basement and we both signed it after agreeing on a price. He completed rough electrical/plumbing/HVAC, framing, drywall and texturing in a timely manner in November. This is where the trouble began. He had a carpenter he was supposed to send out who didn't show for weeks. Alex stopped responding to calls and texts. He started getting agitated with me as I tried to get him to do what he was supposed to throughout the months of December and January. After a few months I told him I was going to subcontract out the basement. He said that was fine to have someone do the tile and painting. His carpenter finally showed up after a few months. Initially it was his nephew. He installed all of the doors too high, was talking badly about how Alex never paid any of his workers and demanded money up front to finish the job(despite the contract specifically stating that I would never pay anything until the trade was completed). He ended up walking on the job because Alex wouldn't pay him all the money he had originally quoted him. Then he sent in another carpenter who lowered the doors and cracked the drywall above all the door frames. He also left multiple holes in the frames and never covered them up. The carpenter and all the other tradesmen who showed up in the past allowed their trash and mess to pile up, never cleaning anything. When this was addressed with Alex he told me I would have to pay someone to clean it because his tradesmen don't clean up after themselves. I ended up cleaning it up myself. Then after having someone else come in to do tile and painting Alex claimed that the contract had changed and that he was no longer going to be doing the things he was supposed to. This included carpet, the shower door, a glass window, the outside return air vent that was covered up completely during drywall and final plumbing. The plumbing and HVAC had already been paid for. This was a huge carbon monoxide poison risk that he put my daughter in. Alex claimed that city code rules are "opinions made up by inspectors" and refused to do the extra work to bring things up to code, despite the initial contract stating that everything would be done to code. He demanded that I pay extra for the vent and said that if I didn't pay his HVAC guy cash for it immediately he had been ordered to gather his tools and leave the site. The electrical was not done to code and I had to pay my subcontractor extra to bring it up to code to pass inspections. All of Alex's tradesmen are unlicensed. The drywall cracked above all the door frames, the light switches and electrical outlets were installed crooked. He even order his electrician to poke about a dozen holes into the freshly painted drywall with a screwdriver. This was confirmed by multiple contractors to have been done out of spite, not as a necessary means to complete electrical. He also tried to pay me multiple times to give good references for other potential clients. He would be cursing at me, degrading me and telling me I was an idiot that he couldn't wait to be done with one minute and the next call me in an attempt to get me to leave a good reference for a $40k contract. Please be advised that his references are people he is paying off to say he does good work. He told me multiple things over the phone and never honored his word. He claimed he never remembered saying them and that I was trying to take advantage of him. I would encourage you to be thorough in your search for a contractor and be extremely cautious of Alex. I have been extremely dissatisfied with his work, demeanor, attitude and lack of professionalism he displayed on this job. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to be provided with contact information for a reliable, trustworthy contractor. Be careful out there!

    Custom Home Builder
    $500,000

I used HomeAdvisor.com to find a contractor to build my home. A&G Contracting DBA Amezquita Construction LLC contacted me via email. Cesar Alex Amezquita and Monica Amezquita, the owners of A&G Contracting DBA Amezquita Construction LLC showed me a home they had built, 8191 E 131st Court, Thornton, 80602. They showed the home to me and told me they could build me a similar home. I agreed to employ A&G Contracting DBA Amezquita Construction as my General Contractor. I paid this company $20,000 as a deposit for drawings, soils report and engineering, as indicated in the contract. Thereafter, A&G Contracting DBA Amezquita Consturction requested a payment of $5,000 for building permits.
After working with Amezquita Construction, I decided to no longer employ them for their services. It was due to Amezquita Construction not being able to provide a safe working environment for the subcontractors. Amezquita Construction's communication with myself and subcontractors was impossible after he was paid the deposits ($20,000 + $5,000) and the actual construction aspects of the home started. I continued the build of my home and upon contacting the engineer and soils engineer, they informed me that A&G Contracting DBA Amezquita Construction did not pay for their services. I have paid the invoices out of pocket for the totals of $1,800 to the engineer, $1,750 to soil engineer and $3,942 for the remainder of the permit that was actually supposed to be covered in the deposit previously paid. Through the process of building my home, I discovered that Amezquita Construction gave me foundation plans, floor plans and structural plans were all from a different home. Alex did not go through the process of making the changes I requested specific to my home due to the soils condition specific to my home, which has expansive soils. This is a concern I addressed with Alex since the beginning.
I hired Amezquita Construction based on HomeAdvisor.com reviews, which are supposed to be reliable. But upon working with Amezquita Construction, I have also discovered other customers who had reviews on the internet for Amezquita Construction reflecting similar experience and sentiments as myself - subcontractors were not paid and that Amezquita Construction was unreachable after payment was received.
