Michael Baacke
Owner
I hired Mike Baacke to do several jobs in my house including 3 bathroom renovations, sanding of stairs, painting the basement, installing trim, to name a few. He started the job and then left me hanging for 3 months after I had paid him in full for several items that were not completed. I thought he was trustworthy because he claimed to be a religious man. Mike sent Dan Horwat to work on my bathroom renovations and apparently he was the only one on Mike's crew who could do tile work. Mike and Dan had a falling out, hence the 3 month delay. When Mike finally explained to me why he couldn't finish the job (mind you 3 months later), Mike told me to hire Dan and that he would reimburse me for the items he took payment on. Several months back, I had also asked Mike if he did concrete parking pads. He said he did not. Dan overheard me talking to other contractors and offered to do the parking pad on the weekends so as to not interfere with his time working for Mike. I told Mike that I was using Dan for the parking pad and he became irate, even though he told me to hire Dan to finish the job he couldn't. Anyway, he accused me of stealing his employee. I immediately apologized because that was not my intention. Meanwhile, Dan Horwat told me the falling out between them had nothing to do with my property. But Mike used that as an excuse not to reimburse me. I sent Mike a request for $1200 for items he didn't finish and then he accused me of trumping up charges....saying that $185 of bullnose tile is not included in the renovation of a bathroom. Any contractor knows that you use bullnose tile to finish a bathroom. Who leaves a rough edge? To this day, I have not received a dime from Mike, even if he disagreed with the tile that only makes up for $185. I told him I would write an honest review and that's when he sent me emails cussing me out and threatening to put a lien on my house. Mike is unprofessional, uses bullying to get his way and lacks integrity.
