Jim Bartholomew of Bartholomew & Associates was hired to demo my master bathroom. During the install there was a leak. Within two hours the water had filled the shower basin and overflowed into the bathroom. The leak was behind the wall and we requested ServePro be called in to evaluate if moisture was being retained in the newly built wall. The leak that was in between the new and existing wall, and we could not see if any of the studs were wet. Mr. Bartholomew got very upset, said I had lost confidence in him and threatened to quit the job. We had been without a bathroom for a week at that point and wanted the job finished. Also, due to the leak, we had to shut the water off to our home and were without water the entire day.
In the contract he was to mud the walls, then texturize and paint them. There are several areas where you can still see the wallpaper, the texture is different all throughout, the paint is light in spots, and has already chipped off only after two months. There are 10-15 areas in the shower where grout is missing. Where the tile in the shower meets the ceiling it looks like a crayon was used to make the two connect. In our contract it is stated that he was to replace the jacuzzi on/off switch. It was never touched and still doesn't work. One of the brand new sink faucets has scratch marks on the base where a tool was used to attach it. The baseboard is not flush with the wall in several areas. The grout lines are all miss matched throughout the shower. The most disturbing issue is that we paid good money to buy "pebble" tile so that we would have a beautiful pebble floor in the shower. It is hideous. The grout is so thick that the pebbles peek through and there are several areas where pebbles are missing and there is pure grout. You can see very distinctly where one "tile" ends and another begins creating lines on the shower floor. We have taken several pictures and would be more than willing to submit them.
We have tried to get Mr. Bartholomew to either correct the errors or compensate us so we can hire a competent contractor to come in and fix the problems, the biggest being the walls and the shower floor. He has refused to do either.
He came with references, works as a sub for Home Depot, and was licensed so we thought we were in good hands. Buyer beware!
