We hired him for a small bathroom remodel in The Dalles and are very dissatisfied. Cabinet door and drawer faces were made of two different kinds of wood. The wood trim around the mirror was stained on one side only so in the reflection of the mirror you can see bare wood and also stain runs from the side that was stained. A heated floor was installed and most likely improperly. The floor is cold in front of the sink and in front of the toilet. Guess the two places it should especially work!! He also indicated that the heated floor would be adequate to heat the entire room without any other heat source. It was not nearly enough heat so we have installed additional heating. He also suggested installing the new floor to be at the same height as the wood floor outside of the bathroom to save money on installation and also create a smooth transition. Good idea however he did not do it. And then there is the subject of a schedule, a moving target to say the least. I could continue with more issues but I think you get my drift. We have another much more extensive remodel going on at the same house and have hired a very down to earth get it done kind of contractor. Communication with him is straight forward and easy to understand why things are done in such a way, no bulls--t. All of the subcontractors like working for this other contractor and from my personnel experience a happy subcontractor is a good subcontractor. I actually used some local subcontractors for suggestions on good contractors and Critchfield was never on the list for someone to use.
