By Chris K.October 2, 2019Remove old, crumbling, asphalt driveway and install new concrete driveway.$9,470
Our project was to have our old, crumbling, asphalt driveway removed, and replaced with a new concrete one. We’re originally from the deep South, and relatively unfamiliar with contractors in this area. On a Google search, C&G was recommended among the top 10 cement contractors in the Detroit area. Of the approximately 15 companies which I finally contacted (some more than once) C&G was one of only 4 who bothered to respond, and to offer me a written estimate. From the very outset (and throughout) C&G was amicable, thorough, timely, and highly professional. Their attention and dedication to detail, logistics, staging, and craftsmanship were all most impressive. They not only delivered the finished product on time, and as promised, but added unanticipated extra touches to the completed project (such as building a concrete step from the driveway up to our front porch, creating swale to channel the rainwater’s run off away from our home, and forming a curb to redirect and contain the flow of water). We are delighted, not only with our brand new driveway, but with the highly competitive (and affordable) price which we paid for it. I would not hesitate to recommend Cindy, Michael, Paul, NuNu, Charlie, and the entire team at C&G Cement Contractors for your next residential or commercial project.

Had colored concrete walkway and patio poured and they a very poor job on the stampinps and walkway. Walkway cracked while they cut relief cuts in walkway. Owner Mike Allen wanted to caulk the crack and said "things happen", but still wanted all his money. Steer clear of this contractor.

We had C & G out to replace our garage floor mid April, during this process they caused an estimated $10,000 in damage. The cinder blocks surrounding the outside walls of the garage were broken and pushed out, only visible from outside the garage. We stored all of our garage belongings on the outside of the garage covered with tarps so we did not see the extent of this damage right away. We were having the floor done with epoxy so we had to wait, we did not start to move anything back in to the garage until early July. We contacted C & G immediately, Michael Allen, the owner of C & G came out to look at the damage, he said he would have it fixed. He sent his guy Craig out with a mason to assess the damage, at this point I was feeling pretty good that they would do what was right and fix it immediately, i did not want it looking like that all summer when we had some special events taking place at our house. The mason they sent out told me he could get started within the week and have it done in three days, I was elated, I just wanted it fixed.
This is where it goes bad, i did not hear back from Michael and when I was able to reach him he said the mason he sent out "was no longer interested in the job". Hmmm ok, well how come not send someone else then?? Michael, through this process kept saying he was going to have it fixed but would never take responsibility for causing the damage, he almost acted like he was doing me a favor. I have over 60 pics of the entire demo and pour of the garage, I do this just for reasons like this. So while Michael is still NOT taking responsibility but still telling me he is going to have it fixed, never once apologized for the damage or how long it is taking to get fixed. He then tells me he is going to fix it with his own men and it will be November.
His men came out the week of Thanksgiving to "fix" the damage. We had to go 5 months for them to "fix" the damage. To me this was and is completely unacceptable.
Once C & G gets their money, you are at their mercy. Shame on C & G/ Michael Allen for not stepping up at the start of this ordeal, apologize, take responsibility, and just fix it. The extensive damage was one thing but what made it worse is how Michael Allen handled the situation. I would be very careful before hiring this company for any project, mistakes happen but you want someone that takes responsibility and cares about the customer service that they are providing and I don't believe C & G's
owner does this.
