We decided to renovate a bonus room and completely update a bathroom. In the bathroom, we demo-ed down to the studs and replaced everything but kept the same location - new wall mount vanity, floor and wall tiles, new shower pan/bench, lighting, vanity, etc. In the bonus room, the ground was uneven (differing by a few inches in some spots) and we wanted to install engineered hardwood as well as brighten up the room with new window, door, lighting, etc. We reviewed bids from several contractors, including ones I found via BuildZoom and Angie's List. 1 contractor wanted to pour concrete on top of the existing. Bryan and a top rated Angie's list contractor recommended breaking up the existing concrete and pouring a new slab. Also we spoke with some contractors who did not see it as their role to apply for required permits - this was something I needed and Bryan did. We decided to go with Bryan because he offered the right approach, best value, had availability when we wanted to start and no red flags from reference calls. Overall, I'm very happy with the outcome and would not hesitate to recommend them to others and give them future work. Everything from the quality of work, budget, timeline and responsiveness has been top notch.
Some additional context: I'm a first time home remodeler and did not work with a designer. I did a lot of legwork myself in terms of choosing fixtures, providing guidance on installation preferences, etc. I didn't need "face time" and communicated with Bryan a lot by email, text and phone because I work full-time. Bryan is super responsive and attentive - by phone or any other channel, 7 days a week. I found him very easy to work with. His crew often worked Saturdays so I was able to sync with them directly then (crew mainly speaks cantonese/mandarin). They are very respectful, clean, hardworking and responsive to feedback. For example, I would point out details I wanted fixed or asked for a shower head to be moved higher (even though tile was on already). If something was reasonable and possible, they just did it without push back. I appreciated this a lot.
