  We have been recently been through a complete nightmare of a remodel with Calton Homes. Bill Reilly advised they would have us in by Thanksgiving (that was last year) and we are still a couple months from completion. Calton Homes lacked professionalism, and true remodel experience, and had trouble bringing in professional trades, etc. The intent of our review would be to convey to any perspective customers not to use them for any level of remodeling. Not looking to have anything resolved or any compensation by Calton Homes, we are just glad to have them gone. Today we are planning to make final payment and then be done with them. We will finish the rest on our own unfortunately after a close to $250,000 remodel project we have continued to be thoroughly frustrated on many fronts. Many of the aspects of the work had to be completely re-done mostly at our cost. The lack of Calton Home's ability to bring in professionals, drove us to finally solicit our own painter, tile work person, stair railing, carpentry & trim work, etc. Calton homes had several trades completely quit them (walk away) from the job site and they ended up firing at least two staff members that we know of mainly due to work performed. The original drywaller, electrician, flooring, and carpenter told us that they would not be performing any additional work with Calton Homes for future projects. We could literally write a book of all the issues we have experienced in the last year and a half that ranged from getting a lien on our home by the drywall company, ordering incorrect material, ordering way over the amount of material required, plain bad work, lack of paying attention to detail, lack on on-site project management and quality checks, bringing in trades they had little to no previous experience with, electrical not to code (but somehow passed pikes peak regional inspection), on and on. This also included providing questionable invoices for example from MDR (Matt Ragdoll Flooring) who apparently was on direct payroll with Calton Homes. It appeared to us that MDR is nothing more than a “paper flooring company” charging (we assume) 20% + profit/ fee and all Matt (MDR) did for us was to bring in another flooring company to do the work. So we ended up paying Ragdoll profit, Calton Homes profit along with the Flooring company overhead and profit plus the actual work performed. MDR/Calton Homes provided multiple invoices for the flooring work with different dates and modified details to cover their tracks from a previous provided invoice.
  We also asked Bill Reilly if we were getting contractor pricing for items such as windows, fireplaces, fireplace rock, countertops, sinks/Faucets, etc. etc. and he stated he wasn’t sure. Wow another sign of complete lack of experience as a General Contractor. Many of the suppliers that they ended up sending us too had little to know idea of who they were or any past experience with Calton Homes.
  We honestly feel sorry for Bill & Calton homes. We will never speak out of turn on our remodel fiasco and fabricate stories as they would suggest. Again our personal experience was a complete nightmare with them. Our remodel was well in excess of $250,000. Additive to the close to the $200,00 that we paid Calton Homes, we had $32,000 in appliances & with the rework that we had to pay for to correct the horrible work provided by Calton Homes i.e. $11,000 in paint, $10,000 to Sun Mountain Builders for rework of carpentry/Trim, stair casing, beam work, etc. Tile work at $3,500 plus, etc. In summary the sad truth is that they (Calton Homes & their team) fell short on a significant % of the remodel process. Quality suffered in many areas mainly because they lacked true professional experience & could not hire quality trades other than a rare few. They can hide behind the COVID excuse, but in our humble opinion COVID had little to do with our remodel issues. We would encourage any perspective customers to review several other Calton Home reviews out there on Yelp , BBB, and Google that mirror our experience. - one starts with "There was not 1 good thing about our experience with this company. To start off we hired them in January to build and dry in (we always planned to finish all the interior work ourselves) an 8x12 front entryway addition to our home. They said on multiple occasions they could start right away and the project would only take a month or 2 tops..." Another review begins with “We have paid Calton Homes $24,577.50 for flooring, which does not include their 20% fee ($4915.50). I have three different contracts that outline the scope of the work. Calton Homes has replaced approximately **** sq ft of flooring in our house. Calton Homes claims the work within their scope of the contract is complete and they are not required to refinish the **** sq ft of old existing flooring…”
