We hired Dean and his son Jan 29, 2021 to put together our gutted bathroom. The project was to last a total of 13 days according to the contract and what we were verbally told. However, our project lasted six weeks and was never completed. Dean was by far the worst “contractor” we have ever hired. He had zero ability to perform the work, he came whenever he felt like it, and left whenever he felt like it, never “working” more than two hours a day. He put the tiles down on our bathroom floor all crooked-highs and lows. He tried putting down a lesser version of the ones we had purchased until I questioned him. As he was running off to work on other homes, he told us that the tiles we ordered were on back order. However, what he didn’t know was that my sister and I had contacted the tile store on two separate occasions only to find that the so called back ordered tiles were an in stock item. Two different sales associates verified this. I addressed this with Dean and he said they must have just come in, yet my sister and I had called weeks ago. When Dean finally did get around to putting the tiles down, they were the wrong ones! He denied it and said he can’t return them! I told him they weren’t the ones we paid for and we didn’t want them. He then went to the store and got the ones we ordered. His first attempt at putting them down was a nightmare! Some of the tiles were high, some low. When we addressed this with him he acknowledged they were uneven and said it was because he hadn’t leveled the floor. We had to eat the cost of his mistake. He then attempted the tile again with the same outcome! At this point six weeks had gone by without the use of our bathroom-no toilet, electricity, sink nor bath tub. So we told him that we’d like to have a tile person complete the floor if he’d be willing to do the rest of the bathroom. He said he would not. Instead, he took half of the money and we ate the cost of all of the tiles since he was unable to do the tiling job twice! The tiles were cemented to the floor both times. When I asked him to reimburse us for the tiles he refused. He left us without a useable bathroom and then demanded I sign a contract saying we were even. We weren’t even close to being even. So upon his departure, we had a tile professional came in to repair the work. They couldn’t believe the quality of work performed. The entire floor needed ripping out. We thought Dean’s son had down a good job with tiling the shower, yet our new tiler pointed out the highs and lows in that tile job as well! As if all of this wasn’t bad enough, we had a plumber come in to put the toilet, vanity , bathroom spout and drain in . In doing so, the plumber discovered that the pipes for the bathtub were installed incorrectly! This small bathroom job has ended up costing us double the amount it would have had we gotten a real professional to perform the wor in the beginning. We paid professional prices and got less than subpar work. Please do yourself a favor and look elsewhere! Dean Casella is dishonest, incompetent and truly unprofessional!

I would definitely recommend this company. I hired them for painting and other odds and ends and they were efficient and clean.

I hired Dean Casella on an hourly rate of $45.00 an hr. for a house I was going to flip. After the first week the hours did not add up. After that week I had someone watch the house and alert me when Dean left for the day. I needed a carpenter and decided not to mention it until he was done with the job. His work was not top notch. I paid him every week without fail. He installed my kitchen cabinets only to find out now the cabinet doors are not even to each other. Dean made pencil marks (big ones) all over the newly painted walls. These were the finished wall. He was to build a deck and put the first step on a concrete slab that was already there. He did not do it that way. He ended the deck to extend to far into the slab now I have less than a 10 inch step. The last week he worked he told me he was not able to come on that Friday but would be back on Monday of the following week. I told Dean I would not be back that day so I paid him in advance for the week based on the hours he gave me. He said he would be working till 5 pm that Thursday. At 1:35pm I received a call that he had left. I went to the house waited for 1/2 hour to be sure Dean did not go to get supplies. I called Dean and he told me he left for the day. I reminded him I had paid him for the day and he owed me 3 hours. He did not say anything. I did not mention to him I knew about the other hours he had added on. I was waiting for him to finish the job before I mentioned it. When I went into the house I looked at the doors he was working on. To my surprise a door that was to be shaved on the bottom was cut with a circular saw. It was a mess and I called to immediately to tell him of my dissatisfaction. Dean was to call me Sunday night to find out what more he was going to do that Monday. He never called that evening. I waited till 10am that Monday morning and began to call Dean. He never answered any of my calls or texts. This went on till Tuesday. Finally on Tuesday after at least 3 texts and 3 phone calls and me tell him I thought he was very unprofessional. Dean finally answered in a text and told me he was working on something else and would be busy for the next 13 days. I hired another carpenter to take his place. It is now costing me much money to fix his mistakes. The doors to the cabinets are not even to each other all doors have to be adjusted. The moulding was never put on. That is costing me $300. I paid $200 for the kitchen walls to be repainted due to him writing all over the kitchen walls. I had to call a mason to make a bigger slab and that cost me $185.00. Some boards on his deck had to be replaced due to a big gap on the railing. I just bought 3 doors to replace the 3 doors that he messed up about $150 for the additional doors plus now I have additional cost for labor to fix Casella's mess. He owes me 3 hours plus the hours he added on every week that he did not work. Dean Casella is not an honest man. I will be taking Casella Construction to Small Claims Court.
His mouth is something else. He kept using the F work which made me very uncomfortable. He has a 6 year old daughter is that how he talks in front of her.
