    Cabinets
    $10,000

Hoping to have an update at some point. I reached out to Isaac of CILA on January 1 to redo my kitchen cabinets. He came down on pricing for me to refinish my cabinets. Him and his cabinet maker, Lin, came to my house the following Sunday January 8 to remove the cabinet doors, so my kitchen was exposed. He told me the new ones would be done and installed the coming Thurs. and Fri. Jan. 12 & 13. We removed all items from our kitchen drawers, pantry, cabinets all over our living room/guest bedroom/island on Monday Jan. 9th ready for install of new ones.

On Tuesday Jan. 10th Isaac called and upsold me for a good deal for all new cabinets rather than refinishing mine. I agreed, and he said on that Tuesday it would take 12 days to make the cabinets- that would have been Jan. 22. Isaac let me know 2 days of prep (sanding and taping down the kitchen) would start on Thursday Jan 26. I flew home from a conference on Wednesday to be here for the Lin, he later pushed the 2 work days to Friday Saturday and Sunday (Jan. 27-29) FIRST TIME DATE WAS PUSHED. On Friday the 27th, he pushed this to Monday the 30th. SECOND PUSH.

Lin and Oscar sanded and taped down the kitchen on Monday and Tuesday the 30th and 31st. Lin said he would be back on Thursday and Friday to paint and prep. He did not come. THIRD PUSH. Lin and two other members came back Saturday and Sunday the 4th and 5th for primer and paint, during which Lin was asleep in his car while is dad and a woman they brought painted. When Lin left on Sunday the 5th, he said he would be back with my new doors on Wednesday or Thursday. Lin did not come back on either day. FOURTH PUSH.

On Wednesday the 8th I asked Isaac when he would be back to install the new doors, Isaac responded with “I don’t have an ETA yet and Lin will not be coming tomorrow”. At this point my kitchen has been completely disheveled, numerous activities pushed, cancelled events for weeks. Doors were supposedly “in” Jan 26, then Feb. 1, then Feb. 3, now I don’t know what’s happening or if they are even in.

At this point, it is Thursday Feb. 9 and Isaac called me to tell me Lin subtracted my cabinets out illegally. Lin had given my project to another carpenter illegally and that person has not made my cabinets. Isaac and CILA were frustrated, but I was far more irate. Isaac profusely apologized, and said that this has never happened before. He guaranteed me that Lin will be coming back to install the new cabinet doors on Saturday the 11th or Sunday the 12th at the absolute latest. At that point, very frustrated, I told Isaac that I am going to back charge CILA $100 per day starting Sunday 2/12 for the cabinets.

Isaac let me know that he looped my kitchen project onto a different- completely unrelated- project. Because the other project had a March 1 ‘due date’ and he looped the contracts together, the extensions for the cabinet of 12 days was tacked onto the March 1 date and I was completely out of luck. He reminded me that CILA is making ‘no money’ off of the project- again, this is not my issue I did not make the price. The 12 day extension for new doors that I signed from you on 1/11/23 is far surpassed but it was irrelevant and I am so lost.

Lin did not come on the 11th, he did not come on the 12th. FIFTH PUSH. On the 12th Isaac told me that “he picked up the doors today.” Lin was supposed to come on Tuesday 2/14 to install drawer fronts and fix mistakes. He showed up, and deemed my draper boxes too old to put new faces on. As a show of good faith, Isaac and CILA are providing new drawer boxes free of charge. When Lin left on 2/14, he said he would be back Thursday or Friday the 16th or 17th, Lin did not come. PUSH SIX. On Friday Isaac confirmed Lin would be coming Saturday morning for the final install, today Saturday the 18th.

Last night at 5:30 PM Lin called my husband to say he would not be here. I have absolutely had it. I called Isaac completely irate. This is absolutely ridiculous. I told Isaac I don’t give a damn who shows up, but I have pushed off numerous events because of his bullshit and lies. I told Isaac he can go to Lin’s shop and pick it up himself, but someone better show up at my house this morning to install my cabinets. It ha been 6 weeks since he took my cabinets off. Isaac texted 10 minutes later saying Lin would be here “the afternoon” with no exact time.

It is currently 5pm on Saturday the 18th. Lin has not come, not texts or calls from Lin or Isaac. They were BOTH aware we had people coming over tonight, something I had pushed 4 times to accommodate their calendars. Keep in mind I work in and out of my office, I had to constantly ask and work around a schedule that was every changing and full of false promises. At the end of the day Lin is not my problem, CILA is responsible. I have no drawers, I have no cabinets, I have not had a functioning kitchen for weeks. I had given Isaac’s info to numerous friends but will never use CILA for any other projects.
