    reno. / addition

I have had Dave Arias home solutions working on a addition remodel project at my house for the last 10 months. We started this project in October of 2020 and the plan was to remodel the or basement (which was essentially one wide open space) and then transition to the upstairs area where we removed 2 walls and expanded our kitchen. Following that we added a 17'x20' addition which is intended to be a master bedroom. We were told at the beginning that the company was trying to get a project to carry its work throughout the winter and we were told that it would take a month to complete each part of this project. Obviously this didn't happen. There were weeks on end that no one showed up at all to work on the basement. We were told that due to COVID, they were having trouble getting materials which I believe to a certain extent and gave them the benefit of the doubt. Then we started seeing several of their other completed projects being showcased on Facebook. This was annoying and we had our first conversation about taking our project more seriously. It was at this time Dave Arias (the owner) assigned a project manager to our job, which is when things really took a turn for the worst. It wasn't until mid March that they completed our basement and this was after having confrontation with the project manager. So they hurried up and half (you know what) our basement so they could move on to the upstairs. There were several issues with the work and it was obvious they just threw a bunch of stuff together to hurry up and move on. So we moved all of our stuff out of the house and moved to tbe basement with our 3 year old daughter and no kitchen with the promise that we would be back upstairs in no more than a month... Within the first week in the basement I found 2 water leaks one under the bathroom sink where they finger tightened the valves and the second where they improperly installed the toilet which caused my bathroom to flood (which they had to come fix and literally became their primary focus for 2 weeks). At this point I was very frustrated and asked them to just finish the project and fix all of the shotty work after the project completion. They started working on the upstairs and yet again, I found myself having to call and text frequently trying to figure out why no one was showing up to work on my house. Then the project manager started leaving a time log by the front door where he would "record" their times and write down what they did that day. This was fine and great until my wife had been home earlier in the day and left to get the kid from daycare. When she got home he was there and had fudged the time sheet to make it look like he had been there all day. At this point the project manager openly admitted that he didn't know what the plans were for our project and said he needed to "ask Dave" which has been the common response we get when asking him a question. There was apparently a family emergency in the family of the guy who poured the footings for our addition which we understood and were completely fine with. However once this guy showed up and poured the footings, it took a literal eternity to get anything done with the addition. Once this was complete they had still not even touched the kitchen. We began to get frustrated with this and asked them dozens of times what the hang up was and they continued to give us every excuse you could imagine at least twice each. Finally I caught the owner at my house checking on the project and asked him what the deal was. It was only then that he told me some big story about how our cabinet order was lost and that he was working on it. This annoyed me. I had a conversation with him about honesty and being upfront which I assumed he acknowledged. Things kept moving slow but finally the cabinets arrived and where installed (2 and a half week project). But shortly after our long awaited cabinets arrived the wrong handles were installed and without measuring! The handles were literally a quarter to half inch off in several places. Literally looked like a guy was mad he had to work and just eyeballed it. So basically the cabinet doors were ruined. They've had to prep and paint the upstairs twice because they did a terrible job they dumped drywall mud all over the new carpet on the stairs and just walked away from it. We constantly find shotty work and are few excuse after excuse. And guess what? On any given day we get maybe one worker and I can't ever figure out why the stuff they did took 7 hours to complete. Long story short I've been told at least 6 different completion dates which have come and gone and there is no end in sight. Were still living in the basement, with no kitchen, washing dishes in our bathroom sink with a 3 year old and an infant who was conceived, carried to term, and born in the amount of time it has taken for these guys not to finish my job. I reach out to the business owner (the guy I write checks to) and he flat out ignores it.
