Not only would I NOT recommend them to ANYONE, I would caution EVERYONE to look elsewhere. This company took a deposit upfront (same as most others) and then commenced to disappear. During the process of tracking down the owner, I had to bring in DOPL to get any action. By this time he had lost his license and offered to use another company to do the actual labor work that I contracted with D&J to do. This other company tore off the roof along with all the gutters, soffit and facia, replaced the roof but did nothing about the soffit and facia. I am not having to pay to have this portion redone. Meanwhile, D&J failed to pay the company they hired to replace the roof and now that company is filing a lien on my property for lack of payment even though I paid them for the roof. I know, I know...fool me once, bla, bla, bla...fool me twice. Yep, I screwed up. Just a warning for ya'all.

I hired D&J Roofing in July 2022 to replace the roof and deck on my summer cabin. He required a 65% deposit to schedule the work. I paid him the deposit and waited to hear from him for the schedule. After waiting for three weeks without hearing from him, I tried calling him. I got no answer, and his voice mailbox was full so I could not leave a message. After several more attempts at calling him over a couple of days, I finally texted him to find out the schedule for my property. Two days after sending the text he replied, by text, and said that he had been busy and he was working on a schedule. Another month went by with no response from Dan. I again tried calling him and again my call went unanswered. I then texted him and reminded him that my cabin is not accessible during the winter. And also told him that if he was to busy to do the work this year to just return my money and we could try again in the spring. He then replied to my text and told me he would have a crew on site at 7:30 a.m. the following morning (a Friday). He later texted me the same day and said they wouldn't be able to be on site until Saturday. I told him fine and I would meet him there. The crew showed up Saturday and worked Saturday, Monday and part of a day on Tuesday. They tore the shingles off my roof, installed an underlayment for the roof to "dry it in", demolished the existing deck, and dug holes and placed concrete for the footings for the deck. The deck footings are not lined up at all and the anchors for the posts are not centered in the footings. The underlayment for the roof has a lot of wrinkles in it and there are a lot of areas where the underlayment was left hanging over the edge of the roof. I'm concerned that if the underlayment comes off during the winter it will ruin the sheeting on the roof and possibly do damage to the interior of the cabin. This work was done at the end of September. The crew never returned again to the site before snow shut down access to the cabin. I again tried calling Dan (twice a day for a week) with no response. I then texted him and told him I wanted my money back. This was at the first of November and I have not heard back from him since (I'm writing this on 1/6/2023). I have since filed a complaint with DOPL and they are currently doing an investigation. I have also had to hire an attorney to try and recouped some of my losses.
