Avoid at all costs. You’ll regret it as I do!
I hired Deerfield Electric to replace a dining room pendant and install a car charger and 2 exterior lights. They said on the phone they would come out for the pendant and let me know if they could do the car charger and exterior lights.
First Deerfield Electric hung the light crooked. The Deerfield Electric electrician advised “Some light fixtures just hang crooked. There is nothing you can do about it”. It was not a little bit crooked – it was quite crooked! But he was adamant that nothing could be done. Please look at the pictures to see an example of their work and what better electricians can do.
Another electrician come out and thank goodness he turned out to be so much more knowledgeable and capable than Deerfield Electric! He confirmed light fixtures can be adjusted. Look at how the dining room pendant he hung looks! Straight and level! From my experience the Deerfield Electric electrician just didn’t know how to hang a simple dining room pendant properly.
Believe it or not that is not the worst part about Deerfield Electric. When he asked me if I’d like to know how much it would be to come back another time and finish the other work I called about (install the car charger and 2 exterior lights) I thought he would look around for 15 minutes at no charge to me so he could put together a bid. He didn’t tell he would stay for close 2 hours and then charge me for the entire time.
Keep in mind my electrical panel is in a room directly adjacent to the garage where the charger and exterior lights would go. We’re not talking about having to go across the house.
He ends up charging over $300 to provide estimates totaling over $7,800. I was able to have an estimate put together for no charge by another electrician. Their estimate was under $2,300.
Think about it – Deerfield Electric charged $300 to create a bid that was more than $5,000 higher on a $2,500 job without even telling me they were charging to put the bid together!
