    Beware of Dimartini Construction

    BEWARE WHEN DOING BUSINESS WITH DIMARTINI'S OF NEVADA CITY/GRASS VALLEY CA
    The Dimartini family is a fairly prominent family in the Grass Valley/ Nevada City CA area, so I was shocked by an experience I had in dealing with them. Last summer, my next door neighbor hired Dan Dimartini’s construction company to install a fence in front of his house. In the process of digging post holes, he smashed the sewer line going from my house to the street. He was aware of the damage at the time, but made the erroneous assumption that it wasn’t an active sewer line, so he just filled the hole with concrete. When I called a plumber to figure out why my sewer was backing up, he discovered a total blockage where our line crossed a corner of the neighbor’s property line on its way out to the street. Dimartini didn’t bother to do any underground surveillance before he started digging. He admits it was his crew that caused the damage, but refused to pay for repairs. He claimed to have prayed and discussed it with his church brothers and they all agreed he shouldn’t be held responsible. How convenient. I wonder if that would work for me if I caused damage to his house to where he could no longer use his toilets. Just say a little pray about it and absolve yourself of all monetary responsibility. His complaint was that I didn’t give him an opportunity to do the repairs before I paid to have my plumber fix it. Sorry, but I needed a working sewer and didn’t have time to argue with him about it. Besides, why would I have the same guy that caused the damage, who is not a plumber, be the one to fix something as important as a sewer line? I should mention that he did offer to pay $100 toward the $1600 I had to pay to fix the damage he caused. He claimed he shouldn’t have to pay his “hard earned” money to fix it. So apparently his hard earned money is more valuable than mine? So be aware of what you are dealing with if you are considering hiring Dan Dimartini Contruction. If he damages any neighboring property, expect long hassles from your neighbors to get it resolved.
