We began the process of purchasing a to-be-built home from Troy Donahue, the owner of Year Round Comfort. The price was great on the home we were purchasing, but the service we received was hugely disappointing. The builder rarely communicated with us throughout the process, and it was like pulling teeth trying to get any sort of response from him or his agents. He continuously made many promises regarding the building timeline that were never followed through on. After 4+ months of waiting for progress on our home, the only thing he had accomplished was breaking ground, and he still continued to promise that the home would be fully complete within the next month and a half after that. Our friends also informed us that their home was built by Troy as well, and they highly recommended that we do everything we could to get out of our purchase agreement. They also had a very disappointing experience with Troy and experienced the same lack of communication, timeline issues, as well as many costly problems on their house they were left to fix on their own. We did attempt to research the company and builder before purchasing the home, and could not find anything online relating to his building practices. I chose to write this review in order to inform others, as we were frustrated as buyers when we could not find any information or warnings in regards to way they he conducts business. I highly recommend you chose another builder for you home, one that will not make the process much more stressful and complicated than it needs to be.

He built a daycare with zero knowledge of how to build one. Now the daycare has to spend more money to rebuild its building to prevent it from rotting in the future

Troy Donahue is THE worst contractor. He seemed so nice at first and totally hoodwinked us. Our house sat and sat as first a hole and then just a foundation for over two months. We could never could ahold of him and often had to track him down just to get answers. He liked to buy time by telling us a phony timeline that NEVER happened. He didn't run inspections so WE called to make sure it was done. In the end, we moved into an unfinished house and the work that was done is either extremely subpar or unfinished since it was rushed. We find new things at least once a week that were left undone or done improperly. He doesn't share changes with his sub contractors and we have three holes in our master bathroom because of it, among other issues that came up. We had to stop in at the house every day before move in to be sure work was getting done and that it was done properly. A few problems we have encountered:
Counters were not secured into studs and fell forward an inch.
No caulk around where the shower and tub meet the floor.
Oh yea, copious amounts of mold in our master shower too.
Cold air exchange was shoved above our heating ducts resulting in cold spots on our floors.
Fresh air intake and the furnace exhaust were vented side by side at equal length, no elbows on either. This caused the fresh air intake to freeze over as the warm air from the exhaust was pulled in.
Vent caps were not taken off and my husband had to climb on the roof to do it.
The paint job is terrible. I wipe something off and it goes right to the sheet rock.
Grouted around the vanities!! and I'm going to guess there's no grout underneath them.
I could go on and on and I wish I could write all the things I know about him but cant prove but I'd like to not get sued. Do your research on this guy. He is no good.
