Permits
- Building permit records show that Donovan Thomas Homes LLC has worked on 6 permitted projects.
Matt Burke of Donovan Thomas Homes LLC built the home that my wife and I are currently living in. The process began great, but at this point, we wish we never started to work with Matt. During the final phases of construction, we showed up to several appointments with Matt to discuss the project, and he was incoherently drunk. This obviously led to him forgetting the items that were discussed, leading to an incredibly frustrating experience. On one occasion, just days before we were to close, I came to the house to find Matt passed out drunk in the basement. As I was talking to some of the painters that were working, Matt stumbled over and argued with us over the fact that the paint color being used for touch-ups in the basement bathroom was not matching. He thought it looked just fine. We closed on the property at the end of October 2017 with a very long list of punch list items, which he had 30 days to complete based on our contract. It is now August 29th, and there are still numerous punch list items that remain (garage door threshold, several doors are not closing properly, crown molding issues, exterior and interior paint issues, bathroom floor that was ruined during construction still has yet to be fixed, cleanup from fence installation still has yet to be completed).... Also, Matt installed the wrong fireplace unit in our house...which could have burnt the house down had the safety feature not kicked in. So he had to rip it out and install the correct one. That being said, both before and after the replacement of the fireplace, there was a massive draft coming out of it. The insulation experts that Matt brought in to "fix" the issue all agreed that the chimney was not insulated properly during construction and that it had to be redone. Matt has been telling us for months that he would fix the issue and the remaining punch list items, and still nothing has been done.
I have also learned that one of our neighbors, who was also a client of Matt Burke/Donovan Thomas, is dealing with the same exact issues.
