Dream Build was great to work with until they had my money. Once the contract was signed and deposit paid they were impossible to get ahold of and rarely returned my calls. They eventually cancelled my contact after months of delays. Avoid this company at all cost!

Last November, 2022 I signed a contract with Ronald Scott Bennett of Alexandria, Virginia (“Scott Bennett”) to have him renovate my kitchen. He was paid $21,000 and nothing of substance was accomplished. It turns out that Mr. Bennett was in the process of ending his relationship with the contractor, DreamBuild of Fairfax, and Mr. Bennett repeatedly misrepresented or concealed facts essential to performing the work. For example, he never revealed that he was no longer with DreamBuild and that he lacked the contractor license necessary to perform the work. He represented that he purchased cabinets for the job when he never did, and he represented that he was seeking permits from the county when he never even applied for a permit. When confronted with the facts, Mr. Bennett admitted that he had made “bad decisions” and that I am owed “restitution”—but he had no money to pay me back. He claimed that his lack of performance and dishonesty was due to a personal problem which, out of respect for his privacy, I will not put in print.
Whether Scott Bennett is a criminal will be for the police and courts to decide; at the time of this posting, he is being actively investigated by detectives in two counties based on several complaints against him. Regardless of the outcome of those investigations, Mr. Bennett, based on our experience, is incapable of taking on, much less completing, any home improvement job.
