I have never had to fire a contractor until encountering John and Dutch Boy Plumbing.
Our GC hired John for our kitchen remodel to handle some plumbing and light electrical work. Aside from the no shows, inconsistent schedule/leaving work incomplete, we have noticed many issues with the work that John actually did do including safety hazards and leaks. We ended up firing John after him and his son had been contracted on our kitchen for over 2 months when they walked off the job claiming they'd be back in 10 days; leaving us with still no lights in the now "finished" kitchen, broken lights in an adjacent room from a 4-way switch they messed with, live outlets exposed along countertops, and live wires floating in the wall. We have since had the sink drain that John installed drop out spilling water all over the floor and discovered that he wired our microwave outlet to a 15 amp branch which regularly trips, when it should be on a dedicated circuit.
If you hire Dutch Boy Plumbing for any work, new or remodel, I would strongly recommend pulling permits to have his work inspected. We made the mistake of trusting our GC and John and are now paying that price with needing to go back and pay more to fix issues that John introduced.
