On 05/16/2023, in good faith, we wrote a check in the amount of $36,895.08 for kitchen repair due to water damage to David Brelia, owner of Elk Head Plumbing & Construction LLC. The check was insurance money. Dave, the contractor, assured us he could get the work done. The repair included replacement of the wood floor, kitchen cabinets and counter tops.
The flooring was finally replaced in November 2023. However, the work was not completed, leaving defects to be corrected and a carpet/floor transition to be installed. The contractor said he would be back to finish and despite several reminders, has not been back to correct the errors.
The new cabinets were first ordered by Dave through some company he said his "construction buddy" recommended. After 9 months of repeatedly asking for the status of delivery of the cabinets and asking the name of the company hired to build the cabinets, Dave reported the company went bankrupt.
Then, Dave ordered the cabinets from, he said, someone in Bremerton. Again, after months of asking about the status of these cabinets, we were told the cabinets would be ready by the end of March 2024. We kept asking when the cabinets would be delivered and kept getting excuse after excuse why the company hired to make the cabinets could not say when the cabinets would be ready.
As of this writing, Dave told us he could not get a date of delivery and according to the company hired to build the cabinets, if we did not have the cabinets by end of May, the cabinet company would recommend someone else. This indicated to us they don’t even have the cabinets on order. When asked for the name of the company, Dave said it was a friend of his mother’s.
We have waited for over a year and still have no cabinets. Our insurance company wants a date when the work will be completed and Dave, the owner/contractor, said he could not give us one. We told him we want a receipt for the flooring work already performed, which has not been completed, and a refund of the unspent insurance funds, which we have not received. On May 16,2024, we received a text from Dave stating he deposited the checks and would be "over with the money." We have received no money or response to our repeated phone calls and text messages. We now have no choice but to get a loan to get this work done.
As of 09/16/2024, we have not received any word or refund of our money.
