On tuesday June 23rd I hired Jacque Antione of Empire Home Remodeling (upper darby) to do several jobs for me, one of which was complicated. After me insisting on paperwork he wrapped them all up into one packaged contract, which caused issues from the beginning as the job was in Philadelphia and I had been told previously that you needed a license to contract in Philly, in that case I sent him a text regarding that. He argued that that was not true and persuaded me that he only needed his state license. He demanded i give him a $500.00 deposit because he said he was honest, not like those that screwed me previously. I sent him the money as we procceded with the job, but several times he was confrontational and rude. Most questions posed or mere suggestion was an excuse for him to raise his voice at me and attempt to talk down to me about the job. He disrespected me by talking over me all the time. Each time I went toe to toe with him. I was not going to let allow him to speak to me any way he pleased. He spoke to his helper in the same rude tone, often. Anyway, today when the job is not quite 2/3 of the way done, Jacque finished up with one of the projects and told me he would not be back to complete the job. I was puzzled since i am the one that was tolerating his attitude. He did not even offer to refund any of my money and now I will have to hire someone to complete the job that may not give me a good price consideration, because now it's a smaller job. Also, it was a complicated job, but it looks like the wrong size wood was improperly jammed and fastened onto the windows just so to be done installing the windows so he could leave. A lot of the contracted for work is not done either.I purposely had no questions or suggestions. I guess he went and looked at a job yesterday and decided to drop mine today and now i'm stuck. I will post this on other sites so we consumers can beware. You've been warned as to what kind of person this man is.The decision to hire him or not will at least be an informed one. It's up to you. You have time and energy to look for another contractor after Jacque is through with you or you with him? I wish someone had enlightened me before I had made this choice.
