When we purchased our 60’s era ranch style home in 2012, we upgraded everything except the bathrooms, which had been modified by the original owners in the mid-90’s. They were… um…serviceable - until recently. So, we decided to renovate. We met with several contractors and had real trouble finding a good fit; until a colleague recommended we meet with Alvaro Figueroa, owner/operator of FIGO General Construction. Within minutes, we knew we had found the right man for our several jobs. Alvaro was forthright and completely honest with us. He didn’t just tell us what we wanted to hear. I can’t overstate how impressive that was. Several people we met told us that our inexpert ideas were “just fine” or even “wonderful!” Alvaro listened to our design concepts, and responded with practical suggestions for improvement. His input was always informed by a strong, elegant sense of aesthetics born of long experience. In short, Alvaro became more than a contractor; he became our guide and collaborator, always deferring to our final judgments - which were made more solid by his good counsel. The FIGO team of craftsmen are like Alvaro’s family, and they became like ours. Living in a space while work is ongoing can be a challenge. But with FIGO General Construction, we were never discomfited by the work going on around us. Owning a home presents a constant stream of maintenance projects - especially in Southern California where real estate prices are so high. Having a trustworthy, cost-conscious General Contractor is as important as having a good accountant or estate attorney. We have found the man to whom we will turn for ALL our home-maintenance needs from our foundation to our roof. Our colleague’s advice turned into a blessing.
