    bought reclaimed wood from them
    $1,000

My husband and I were defrauded by someone, Mr. Scott Hayth, of Roanoke, Virginia, One of the reasons I trusted Mr. Hayth was that it seemed like he had a state of Virginia contractor's license. This is what I submitted to the BBB.

"Mr. Hayth promised us that he would deliver us 800 square feet of reclaimed hardwood flooring. He offered to deliver it to us for $200 from Virginia to Ohio. We paid him $300 up front for the delivery charge and part of the cost of the lumber. He dropped off only about 220 square feet of lumber, only 160 square feet was usable, due to the rest of it having bad tongue and groove. I saw the lumber, but it was all in a giant pile. It was impossible to tell volume, but he promised it was at least 800 sq feet, which was what I insisted on from the very first communication. He assured us that he would bring us at least 800 square feet. We knew on delivery that there was no way he had brought even close to the amount we ordered. Instead, we paid a $200 delivery fee, and then $800 on top of that for the lumber, but when my husband (who is NOT a contractor, so wasn't good at estimating the volume by sight) measured the amount of wood, there was not even 1/4 of what we were promised. My husband shouldn't have paid him at all, but my husband is too nice of a guy and paid him $700 upon delivery, so at that point we were in for $1000 for 160 square feet of used flooring. Mr. Hayth told us over and over again that he had more flooring he could get us in Roanoke, but we asked him at least a dozen times to take a picture of it stacked so we could gauge how much was there so we could see if it was even worth a trip (it's a seven hour drive, and we didn't want to throw good money after bad by driving down there and there not being any decent wood or a minimal amount of it). After over a week of going back and forth with him and him never showing us pictures of the wood, we finally gave up and determined he had defrauded us. Meanwhile, he continually swore up and down he had given us 800 square feet and threatened us with physical retaliation because he wanted the other half of the money he had originally was promised (for 800 sq feet). He originally quoted $2 a sq ft."

My big concerns was of course, the obvious dishonesty, but the fact that this person who is posing as a "contractor" clearly doesn't even know how to estimate the area of a floor, or estimate volume of goods. I really feel for anyone who actually has him do any construction work for them. I mean, we lost money, which is not fun, but someone's home could be destroyed. Additionally, the fact that he threatened us when we wouldn't pay him the money he thought we owed him, even though HE NEVER DELIVERED ON HIS CONTRACT, should remove him from any professional work. Quite simply, this person is a danger, and if he still has a contractor's license, that should be reevaluated. I would certainly hate to have him actually harm someone.

    House repairs

Scott Hayth, the owner of this company was the one who did the agreed upon repairs for a house we were closing on this year. Not only did he cut corners on every project that was given to him, he flat out didn’t do some of the projects. When we called him and met with him about the problems he talked so much we couldn’t get a word in about what we wanted and then he would walk away before we could finish. He messed up our electrical and we had to pay an electrician to fix it. The nice electrician was amazed at how bad it was and said it was a major fire hazard. After working with several contractors for this new house I am MOST disappointed in Scott.

    Great contractor and much more!!!

This contractor is great! I hired him for home improvements and not only did he work with my budget, he did some other repairs at no extra charge! He did a wonderful job on my kitchen, bathroom as well as painting my bedroom and foyer! I cannot say how blessed we were to find a great contractor who will not overcharge! I will definitely hire again!

    General Contractor

I would never recommend this company to anyone. This guy was hired to replace a bladder tank in my home and fix a leaking shower, he hooked the pressure switch up backwards and burn up my whole well, wouldn't take ownership of his mistake and refused to pay a real contractor to replace the well. Then after living there for a week my basement was wet , guess why ... shower was not fixed, instead it was rigged up with rags to hold a pipe in place and insulation was stuffed all around so it wouldn't leak for a little while. Now after ripping my bathroom wall out I've almost got his mistakes fixed. Take my advice and steer clear of this company, they will take the money but your stuff will still be broke.
