    Major Renovation Exterior and Interior

    In 2019 we chose to work with Joe Hennessy of JD Hennessy Construction, Inc. Deland, FL to do major renovations both exterior and interior to our 1915 Craftsman home in Orlando. We purchased it in 2014 for its location, its intrinsic charm, as well as its recent interior and updated utility improvements. In 2017 we added a new Smart Jack foundation.

    We interviewed with several contractors, and architects before choosing to work with Joe. Some suggested we should tear it all down and start from scratch. Joe, however didn't seem daunted by its age, shared other similar projects he had completed, and had some great ideas for us. He worked with us for planning, permitting, demolition, engineering, new materials selection, construction, inspections, and all the finish work.

    He was meticulous, always mindful of our budget, and a joy to work with. He stripped the exterior of the house down to the sills and studs and rebuilt from there. Joe brought in an engineer to certify his design to stabilize the framing and protect it from ground contact going forward. He was always on site to oversee its progress. The result is we now own a home that reflects the charm of its heritage, with almost no maintenance, lower utilities, and ultra convenience of the latest technologies.
