My insurance company engaged Iceman Cooling and Heating to install a new compressor in my AC. My out-of-pocket cost was $1,750 (I was told, it was due to high freon expenses). Barely a month later, the AC malfunctioned beyond repair and I had to replace it. According to another vendor sent by the insurance company, the AC was irreparably damaged, because the new compressor was improperly installed, causing freon to leak, and shorting the entire unit. The vendor documented the issue in a formal report to the insurance company, and specifically blamed the prior vendor (i.e., Iceman Cooling and Heating) faulty installation of compressor for the AC failure. I had to replace the AC with additional out-of-pocket cost of almost $2,000. I contacted the Iceman Cooling and Heating to give them a chance to make the things right. They said they will come to my house to verify the report, even scheduled an appointment, but never showed up, even though my handyman was in the house waiting for them during the scheduled 3 hour-window. They later said that they were at the house but that no one was there, which was 100% not true. When I asked them why they did not call me or my handyman who was waiting at the house, they did not have an answer. Then they said that it was likely because my unit was 16 year old, but that wasn't true either because I installed the new AC when I bought the house 12 years ago, in 2010
The whole ordeal cost me almost $4,000, not to mention that no one could live in the house for weeks until the new unit was replaced, due to the extreme summer heat in Phoenix. My experience with Iceman Cooling and Heating was extremely bad, and would never used them again for AC repairs

Technician came to our house and gave the diagnosis. I called American home shield early morning the next day and they stated claim has not been submitted. We live in Arizona and has been sitting in the heat. Do not know how long it will take then to get to my AC issues after telling me that compressor need to be replaced. Also gave the price for Freon $80 per lb. and requires 11 lb. American home shield will only cover $10/lb. lots of frustration with AHS and contractors

do not have any dealings with this company as they were sent out from american home shield to repair the compressor on our a/c unit that is going bad derik came out told us we needed a new compressor and 17 lbs of freon at $100 per pound for r22 and that american home shield would only cover $10 per pound after some research we discovered we could by a 15lb canister for only $299 abilityrefrigerants.com/… so of course we are not going to be doing any business with this company and neither should you avoid any and all dealings with these scammers

These guys should never ever be hired. The negative reviews are very justified. Iceman came out to work on our under producing air conditioner on a Thursday. The technician left with what appeared to be all systems go.
On Tuesday the system was, freezing up at the condenser and fan was not blowing. Iceman was called back out for a 10am to 1pm return on Wednesday.
I informed them that I had to be at work and it would take me 45 minutes to get to my house. I missed the technician's call while at work but attempted to call him back 10 minutes after he called to let him know my ETA. He did not pick up his phone and attempted it probably ten times.
When I got home there was a message on the door that he arrived and left.
Called Iceman office and they informed me that no one could come to the house until Thursday between 7am and 10am. Oh, and they would be charging me $79 for a no show service call.
When no one showed up by 10am I called Iceman and they said they had no record of having a dispatch to my address. After trying to keep my cool and explaining the day before events they said they would call me back.
They called me back and said the technician would no longer be working for them and that they would be transferring me to another company. This, by the way, is all through American Home Shield which is an another story of a horrible company. -

My home warranty sent them out to look at my MiniSplit. I specifically told both the warranty company and Ice Man what type of unit I had and to only send a qualified technician. Everyone acknowledged my request and assured me I'd get the right repairman. I DIDN'T. The guy who showed up had no clue what a minisplit was, let alone how to even check if it was working properly. I told him the automatic setting wasn't working at all and the manual setting wasn't allowing the temperature to be adjusted. He held a thermometer inside the vent and said it worked fine. I don't sleep under the vent. I sleep 10 ft away from the vent. Like normal people. I had the unit cranked down to 62 degrees and 10 ft from the vent the room was nearly 80 degrees, in the morning hours. This is AZ. Summer in AZ. The guy said they'd send out someone qualified to work on the unit. They didn't. When I called the shop, the service manager was a real jerk and rudely said my 6 yr old unit was just old and wasn't going to work efficiently as it did... a week before. Really. What part of HOME WARRENTY does he not grasp. If it was the unit, it's covered. If it's parts, it's covered. What ever is wrong, it's covered. If I needed a new unit... it's covered. He found it easier to lie to AHS and say nothing is wrong, and take my $75 fee... rather than tell them ANYTHING and get paid more. Really, you want someone who can't grasp that concept working on your unit, than this is your company. If you want an intelligent company, call someone else. Now I'm going to have to pay a second company to come out and do the job AHS and Ice Man refused to.

By AnonymousJuly 9, 2014Home warranty hired them to fix our AcComplete crap
Our experience was the worst. (Not good at wording myself)
We contacted our home warranty company who verified out number and we were told that iceman cooking and heating would be out on Tuesday to check/fix our ac problem. At end of Tuesday one iceman associate called and verified out number to call and gave us a time for Wednesday from 12-4. It got closer to 3:30 and I heard nothing from them. So I called thy second number that verified again our number and time. I called and was told they will not be coming out and called my parents number 5 tines(even my parents verified the correct number to call.. I told Seth that home warrant, associate from thy other day an whoever called from "his number" verified a time and number to contact us. He kept saying that wasn't the number given and they will not be coming out and that they tried calling thy other number(wrong number to call)
Now we are here in day four with no AC..

This business is not run for the costumer. I had Iceman come out to replace an evaporative cooler. They replaced it with a smaller unit, yet swears it is the proper sizing. He was very rude over the phone and has refused to give me manufacturer information on the unit that was placed on my house. It took the company 3 weeks from start to finish to complete the project. I called several times to schedule the job to be finished and got no response. The wiring was not connected to code. And to date the unit still does not work. Do NOT ever use this company!

It is August, 2013. We have been without a/c for 4 days. This is Arizona. We were told we are on the emergency list by Ice Man Cooling. The first guy they sent had to have his diagnostics "checked" on day 3 by a more experienced tech. We were told again we are "emergency" listed. Some one was to come today, day 4, to replace our compressor. It is now 3:21 PM and no one is here. It is hot. The Ice Man does not come, or call back, or treat this as an emergency. They don't come when they say they will, they don't call when they say they will. Bottom line: would not recommend them to any one.

They are the best if you are looking for someone to find out what is wrong with your ac, do nothing and take your service fee. I was told a part needed approval from AHS; it would take a day at most, then I heard nothing from them. Weeks later, I found out they marked the job as done. When I called them, they told me there was nothing to fix and that I should call AHS if unsatisfied. There was zero interest in finding out if the tech screwed up.
What a waste of my time and money.
