    JD Construction took a large up front deposit for a roof replacement at my in-laws house, in Georgetown TX well over a year ago. Check cashed in June of 2020. Since this time the work has not been completed or started. All of the siblings and myself have been in contact with him for the past month and it has been one excuse or empty promise after another. Last week calling from my work line he actually took my call, and again offered a slew of excuses about weather and personal issues. He promised a full refund to my in-laws if the work was not completed by Friday 01-28-22. Well no work has been started and I highly doubt it will by tomorrow. I fully expect to have to take legal measures to get a refund for my in-laws at this point. He since stopped answering any of our phone calls. This is the type of contractor that gives all honest, hardworking guys a bad name. It shows very questionable morals to prey on the elderly like he has. At this point we just want there deposit back so we can actually get their roof repaired. I hope anyone checking into JD Construction for work makes sure that the work is done before rendering any payment.

    James has always been professional trustworthy does a great job and does not cut corners is willing to go beyond to please a demanding customer he knows his stuff!! And is very patient especially with those that didn’t understand all the in and out of any project his crew are hard working do excellent work

    Listen to the other bad reviews about the company not returning the deposit. A very similar experience has happen to me. I hired JD Construction to do paint, tile work, siding and install a front door. We tried for months to try to get him to come to our house and finish the work. (he would schedule a date and then no call and no show) After numerous stern conversations with the owner, James Daye, about his lack of showing up to preform the work when he said they would, we finally got them to come and install the tile. The work was installed improperly and looks awful. Not only was the tile work terrible, they left trash in the middle of the yard. James came to collect his payment. We brought up our concerns and were promised the trash would be picked up and the tile would be fixed. On that promise, I foolishly paid him. So when the day arrived to fix this work and begin other projects we contracted with him, guess what - no call and no show again. So we terminated our contract and requested the deposit be returned for the remainder. This was on November of 2020. Needless to say it had been 4 months and I still have trash in my yard, awful tile and no deposit returned. We have made several attempts to work with James to get our deposit returned and every time there was an excuse to why he promised and yet failed to return it.

    James is my "go to guy" when I need work done to my properties. When I have work that needs to be taken care of, he's there. Roof repairs or replacement, exterior and interior painting, new fence,etc. There may be times when weather interferes with jobs but he always gets the jobs done.

    Do NOT hire this man. James Daye now calls his business JD Construction and the address has changed.
    He took my money on June 2, 2020 and for the next 7 weeks did
    NOTHING. I called or texted him every week. It was always 'next week', or "a couple days". or on Monday, June 13 he said, "be there Wednesday". Never showed up or called.
    I got my money back today (July 22). His crew had previously done some good work for us so I hired him to finish the painting on our house. When he handed me my money back, he said, "what did I do?". They don't come any dumber than that.

    I am upset and outright disgusted at the lack of professionalism and integrity shown by James Daye/JD Construction. What’s sad is that he came highly recommended by a family member, so we never expected him to take our $2500 deposit and refused to refund our money or even complete the job. I contacted James on a Friday he scheduled an appointment the next day to come take a look at the roof, the same day he drew up a contract and agree to start work that Monday. On Monday James was a no show. I texted him to find out when he'd be able to reschedule since he missed his appointment, he blamed it on rain from the previous day that caused a delayed and his crew being tired from having to work longer to complete the job. OK no problem so we scheduled 3 days later for Thursday. No show, again this time he blamed it on the forecast of rain that maybe coming our way. So, we rescheduled again for the following week (Monday). Of course, he didn't show then either, nor did he call, I had to call him. This time it was multiple unforeseen circumstances from another roof project but he promised to be at my door 9am on Wednesday morning. Again, no call, no show. Finally, after 2 more missed appointments we requested that he refund our money. James initially told us there was a 5 day refund policy and would refund us on Friday, when he failed to meet us or even call on Friday his excuse was the bank was not releasing his funds and we would have to continue to wait. What kind of business is this? DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS MAN UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE ROBBED AND LIED TO. Weeks of missed appointments and promises to refund our $2500 with no real intention to follow through. Not professional and not honest AT ALL!!!!
