    remodel master bathroom and deck

    Do NOT hire this man!
We hired Jerry Blake to re-model a master bathroom and to install a deck in our backyard. We ended up having to hire someone else to finish both projects because his skill level and customer service were horrible.
He does sloppy work!!!! And he lies!!!!
Practically everything thing he touched had to be re-done. The plumbing line to the toilet was installed through the sub-floor but instead of being to the back of the toilet it was in the front. If the toilet would have been installed someone could have tripped over it sitting down.
The cubbies in the shower was not center and not the same dimensions. When we told Jerry he had to fix it, he wanted to argue with us. We had to tell him how to install them properly.
He discussed with us how he was going to install the trex decking. And was telling us how he had to use a special tool (we got the impression that he wanted us to pay for the tool). We researched installation and when we came home we noticed the trex board were not being installed the way we had discussed. And to top it off, the gaps between the boards were not the same. We mentioned it to him, we had a huge argument and we had to tell him how close the boards were supposed to be. Even though we wanted the boards installed the way we originally discussed, he wasn’t going to be out of any money.
Then we questioned where the building permit was for the deck. He started saying that he could get it inspected all at once which was not our question. My husband called the building inspector the next morning and found out that he had not submitted the application for the permit. We called him the same day to speak with him. He answered and said that he was coming by the house later because he was picking up parts. We wanted to speak with him in person. When he didn’t show up we called him later that day and confronted him. He had nothing to say. Just that he had the application.

He has total disregard to your questions, requests, and your time.
Its been at five weeks – yes FIVE weeks - since we gave him the deposit for the deck and the deck isn’t a quarter of the way done. Our master bathroom sat for 2 weeks waiting to be tiled. I had a date for the shower door to be installed. I kept asking him, will you be ready for the shower door to be installed? And he kept saying yep. I forewarned him that I had to be pay a fee if it wasn’t shower tile wasn’t ready. He said yep it would be done. The day came, and Jerry didn’t even show up. We had to text him to tell him that we hired someone else to finish the job because he never answered the phone.
Oh, and do not ask him questions. Do not ask request anything. He doesn’t listen. My husband told him he wanted him to use copper plumbing – not plastic. He said plastic was fine and used it. We got a leak in our kitchen.
There were several things wrong with the structure of the deck and we kept questioning him about it. He just kept saying “let me finish the job” and “I’m not going to be out of any money” instead of trying to address our issues.
He has total disregard for the items in your house
During the fix weeks, he also terrorized our house. He broke my window shade and didn’t say anything. I found it and told him he had to replace it. He destroyed my carpet, and I had to pay to get it professionally cleaned. When I told him that he had destroyed my carpet, he said he could bring me a carpet cleaner.
He made holes in our kitchen ceiling and created damage from his water leak. He put joint compound down but I had to tell him he had to sand it. So he did. And I guess I am suppose to paint his mistakes.
His workers drank all the drinks (including the beer) in our refrigerator in the garage. He told us to talk to his workers. When we did, they bought us some more drinks. But that was ok according to Jerry.
We were home one day and one of his workers were rummaging in my husbands tools. He said he needed to use his saw. My husband said “don’t you have your own tools?” The worker said “you want your deck done or not.”
This is just a little of what I went through for the past 5 weeks. It has been horrible. Please. For your own sanity, do not hire Jerry Blake.
