I never write negatives reviews but I must regarding JLS REMODELING SERVICES. I signed a kitchen design/pre-construction agreement listing a $75K–85K target budget with a 10% deposit ($7,500) fee paid to be applied towards the project.
Prior to signing, I shared all vendor quotes/plans with JLS and they agreed IN WRITING they can absolutely coordinate with my preferred quartz fabricator. After securing my deposit, JLS presented a $106,000 proposal (25 to 42% over the budget range) including a quartz quote $10k higher than my multiple quartz quotes. Despite early flexibility, JLS’s reversal tactics made it clear their “preferred” vendors are actually “required” vendors.
Their minimal cost breakdown of expenses along with subpar renderings lacked transparency and financial responsibility. I requested a 50% refund on the $7,500 deposit to part amicably but JLS rejected this as a non-refundable agreement.
I have since hired a new general contractor and am fully on budget as always expected. Sharing to help other homeowners avoid similar experiences with JLS Remodeling Services.
