The owner David Kibbe came to estimate the cost of repairing our parapets. Either he does not know anything about parapets and/or roofs, or he is running what can only be called a scam. He spent very little time on the roof, made comments like "Well, it's obvious your house is worth a lot of money." And "I'm sure you want to protect your investment" and "I'll bet you folks have worked hard all your lives so it's hard to give you such bad news." He announced that he is a roofer (despite the company name "Just Stucco and Windows"), and started disparaging the roofing itself. When we told him the roofing was only four years old, under 20 year warranty, and the roofer had been very responsive and helpful, he quickly backed off. His further comments made little or no sense. This was our 4th estimate for the parapets and we had done quite a lot of research before we began getting estimates, so we weren't totally unfamiliar with roofing and parapets. But this company came so highly recommended by AngiesList that at first we didn't suspect what was going on. When it dawned on us he never gave us the "bad news" that he began the discussion with, that he actually had said the parapets weren't in bad shape, we realized he had intended to sell us an entire new roof! Beware! Given the provider's response, I'd like to add that when he left he said he would email an estimate right away. I asked him if he would also send along whatever he thought was wrong with the roofing so we could pass that along to our roofer. He said he would. He never sent the estimate, much less mentioned that he couldn't warrant it. My husband, a professional engineer, went back to the roof to inspect it again. He found nothing that resembled Mr. Kibbe's description of it. Now, nearly a year and several storms later, I can report that after hiring someone else to repair the parapets, our leaks have disappeared. We did not need a new roof. I'm mystified at the huge number of good reports Mr. Kibbe has attracted for Just Stucco on AngiesList.
