DO NOT HIRE FOR KITCHEN REMODEL
Hiring this contractor was the worst decision I’ve ever made for my kitchen project. If I could give zero stars, I would. I hired him to install WREN kitchen cabinets, flooring, and backsplash, and paid half the cost upfront as a deposit.
He and his wife claimed he had prior experience installing WREN cabinets and even showed me pictures of a supposedly completed kitchen. Looking back, I doubt he actually did that work because it quickly became clear he had no idea what he was doing.
Despite repeatedly telling him to follow the contractor’s layout provided by WREN, he didn’t. The flooring didn’t extend far enough, and he insisted it was correct—even though I, with no construction background, could see it was wrong just by looking at the plans.
There was also a significant language barrier, which he relied on his wife to help translate. I’ve hired people before whose first language wasn’t English, and they did excellent work, so that wasn’t the real problem—the lack of skill was.
At one point, I left for church, and when I returned, he admitted he had never assembled kitchen cabinets before. Several cabinets were in the wrong locations, the lazy Susan was installed incorrectly, and he repeatedly asked me where things should go. I’m the homeowner, not the contractor—this was his job to know!
I finally told him to stop work altogether. Another contractor who specializes in WREN cabinets confirmed that the installation was done incorrectly and warned me I might need to buy two new cabinets because holes were drilled in the wrong places. The flooring also needs to be redone.
This so-called “specialist” has cost me more money and time since I now have to hire someone else to fix his mistakes. I am requesting my deposit back because he completed virtually nothing correctly.
Do not believe his claims about experience with kitchens and cabinets. They are simply not true. Avoid this nightmare and hire someone else.
