    K-Co stood out with an excellent local track record and great reviews. I trusted K-Co in transforming a 1950's single-story house into a modern two-story family home amidst the peak of the pandemic and writing this review 2 years later I am still glad I chose K-Co. The renovation was completed without a single defect, a testament to their commitment to quality and my satisfaction. This company is a great example of team work and they stayed on budget and delivered the contractual scope of work in the time frame estimated.

    This is long… The short story is YES, K-Co Construction is great and will build you the best house.

    After going to Del Mar home show and interviewing 4 contractors, and then interviewing 5 at our south-west (Clairemont Village) home, we chose KCo-Construction. Yes… That’s me. I need to talk with everyone, have my questions ready and am very choosy. And to make it more challenging, you hear so many bad contractor stories. Our neighbor hired a guy who left ¾ the way through. Can you imagine? The point is, I am very picky and even then… Ya just don’t know….

    We made the best decision choosing Chad Gardener and KCo. And like us, you are now looking. I could write a story as to how well this went but will try and keep it short. We have built a residential home and a commercial space and have a medium good idea as to what we need in a contractor. For me, communication, competency and integrity are very important. Through this whole project, KCo maintained the most professional, communication, work ethic, integrity, capability that I could ever imagine coming from a construction company.

    We did a complete remodel. We switched the kitchen to the back of the house, added a master bedroom wing with a master bathroom and master closet. We added a garage, made 2 beautiful bathrooms. We literally designed the house and KCo refined it, and built it to our specs.

    The relationship first starts with Chad, the owner of the company. Chad has been in construction most his life as KCo is a family business. One thing very cool about this and KCo, is that they are very community and family oriented, supporting many events in the Clairemont community (and that made a difference for us). They live here and support here. Which is another interesting thing about KCo, is they don’t take projects to far from here. What this means is when something goes funky, (as will happen in construction), the project manager is very close to deal with it. This happened several times and BOOM, he was there to manage it. You don’t have to wait. Chad knows construction. I appreciated the way he looked at our house and talked us through what needed to be done. He worked with us on our design and his guidance was invaluable.

    Once we had our drawings and we agreed on the price (which was fair and reasonable), we met our project manager Brian Beagle. I cannot say enough how great Brian has been. I think one of the most important things a PM needs to be able to do, is manage the client. We asked a lot of questions and were on site almost every single day. He managed us well. He managed his subs well. I am speechless to how well he understands construction, the process and the little details that I would have missed. One of the coolest things is we felt he always had our back and wanted us to have what we wanted. And when something was off, or the price not right, or we were going over budget, he was able to offer alternatives and catch us before we went off the track. Brian is amazing. He was also very fun to hang out with as the house was being built. Their internal team, David, Trevor and Nick are also great, ethical and professional.

    We have now been in our house over 2 months. We love our house. It came out GREAT. What I am most impressed by is the level of construction. As I said, we have had a couple builds and have some idea as to what we are looking for. This house is solid.

    As you look around town at the houses KCo is building, you will notice this. The design, construction and livability. And they have been building some very cool houses. They really are the best and our experience was awesome. My wife is happy and was comfortable working with them. We highly recommend them.

    PS…. One more thing… Our house was being completed during the time of CornaVirus. They were a month away from completion when the shut down orders started coming. We were living in an apartment and I am immune-compromised. I felt we needed to get home to feel safe. KCo busted their butts to get the house ready a month early so we could move in before we would not be able to. That is dedication to your client. I cannot say enough good about these guys.
