I'd start of saying that I myself am a designer and am very particular but creative and I had a design architect on the project who was extremely hands on and a good friend that worked alongside Peter Klein Associates and I myself did much of the beginning designs and had the 2 other parties vet them for feasibility. Though most of that was done by my friend, the design architect. So I was extremely involved. Id say Peter Klein delivered me a fairly easy process in my NYC DOB approval as they are self-certified which is a big win for the timing of your permits. I also delivered a close to finished product in regards to design and there were discrepancies between those documents I had to look out for and some errors in revisions but everyone makes mistakes.If you are committed to the project then you'll get your money's worth. If you aren't as engaged then I'd have a tough time speaking to how a hands off approach would go but I'd lean towards saying it might be a little of but yet again I am very particular.
