We had “won” a bid on a discount of $500 for Leahy construction to paint a section of our house. We were very dissatisfied with the quality and work ethic of the owner (Bill Leahy) that we wanted to send you a note with the intent that you would have a head’s up in case they provide an auction item again in future years. Candidly, because the item came from school so we felt it had been vetted by a prior family, so our due diligence was a bit lax. Our sole interest is to prevent an unsuspecting family from having to deal with the issues we had to deal with. If it is helpful to you, here are a few of the concerns:

    · Quality – they did not perform a quality check, and relied on us to identify concerns. When we did the “blue taping”, they would repeatedly remove the tape and yet not fix the underlying issue. Further, we have since found issues that we are not sure how we are going to fix since they wanted the final payment immediately upon completion without adequate time to check the final work.

    · Work Ethic – they committed to us that they would complete the work in three days, but ultimately once the colors were picked, they took over six weeks to complete the work. They would repeatedly say that they would complete the work by the end of the week, but would not do so. Further, they would come around noon and leave at 4 pm after making little progress.

    · Scope – we all agreed upfront that they would paint an alcove off the main hallway, but ultimately they did not do so and charged us extra to do the work.

    · Cost – we later found out that the cost of the painting was significantly greater than it should have been. When you have an auction item, there is not too much “bidding” that you can do since you are locked into the purchase.

    · Overall – we found them obstinate and difficult, and not in a mode of providing customer satisfaction.

In any case, our goal is the simple. We would like to prevent another family from having to endure this.

My husband and I used this company and I just had to put my two cents in on this comment. I was very impressed the way that Leahy Construction performed work in my house. Their clean, professional way of working left me feeling great about my "new" walls. I actually feel wonderful about my beautiful "new" home after owning it for 20 years. One other thing for women out there, Bill taught me a few things about how to maintain my new paint job. We have some incredibly high traffic areas and now I no longer have to worry about them, and I can show off my home to friends. Thank you a million times Bill. I would recommend Leahy Construction, they were GREAT!

I had Leahy General Construction do my house and was very pleased with the results. His bid for my work was right in the middle of the other bids - not too high and not too low. I, unfortunately had many settling cracks throughout my house and that was no problems for Bill. He came in and fix them and even taught me a little about them in the process, which I liked very much. I am very happy to recommend this company to all my family and friends.

I first read your reviews and then I made some calls myself and found out that Manny (review of April 11, 2012) and customer 111 (October 6, 2012) are mother and her son, Ryan, who are disgruntled with many contractors who come into their home - they do this a lot. So I did some more research of my own and called references who had used Leahy General Construction (LGC) and had their work done by them. All five references were pleased with the work and would recommend them. So I decided to take a chance and had hired LGC for just 3 rooms (what could it hurt?). Once I saw their work I too was pleased with the results, so I then had them complete the rest of my house. Bill was very nice to work with, he worked out a schedule for the work and did it. They were very clean and efficient. I would like to go on record as recommending Leahy General Construction Company.

Leahy Painting is one of those scam companies that gets the down payment and then makes you wish you had never contacted them. They did a terrible job on our home remodel and then walked off the job. The money we sent to correct the damage was 2 times as much as the original bid. We filled a report with the BBB. This company was great to work with. Bill comes right out within days of my phoning him to do work on my house. I had him do some exterior around my windows, but most of my work was done in the interior. I had some very old and outdated mill work along with a lot of paint peeling and water stained ceiling areas from a break in our bathroom upstairs. Bill came in and his estimate was smack on what we had expected. His crew came and we never knew these people were in our home. There was no loud talking or music playing (like our last contractor brought with him). The work was done in no time and I was surprised with the outcome - BETTER than I had ever hoped for. It all looks brand new now. No one would ever know we had our ceiling repaired and painted. All the mill work looks like we just bought it and it was bad in the beginning believe me on this one. Would I recommend them again - YES YES YES Thanks Leahy Construction hopes this helps with getting some new customers! Stan Binders - Everett, WA

I found this company through my child's school auction - I took a chance. They were great. Bill, the owner, was great to work with and he knew just what we wanted to do with our house. What I really liked is that they worked around our schedules and did exactly what we had asked for. Another interesting remark, was how clean they were, every afternoon they cleaned whatever area they were working on, and never left us in a mess with paint brushes and drop-cloths lying around. We had a great experience with this company and will definitely use them again in the near future.

Those negative reviews, I just read on your website, were all written by the SAME CUSTOMER bend on ruining the 25 years of reputation of this one business.
I know this to be a fact because I personally know this customer and he is a horrible person with his own horrible reputation for doing this to businesses where he does get "freebies" He bragged to me that he had done this because I used this company and I just had to do something to counteract this horrible act. This construction company does NOT deserve this at all. This customer has done this to several businesses and then laughs about it.
I have had work done by this construction company in my own home and it was EXCELLENT 5 star rating. I then told my neighbors about this company and then they hired them, and they loved their work too.
Thank you for letting me set the record straight for this company.

You need to post the positive and not hurt the innocent like this because of ONE HORRIBLE ANGRY MAN.

Leahy has auction items in many school fundraisers. I purchased one for $500. The fine print said $500 of on a 1500 sq foot paint project. I hired Leahy, paid 50% down, 25% per request at the "half way point" He then became difficult to work with and refused to finish the job. His paint on my trim had to be stripped off due to in proper preparation. DO NOT use Leahy, he is a bad painter
