Please stay clear of this contractor. They are extremely slow… only on site 15 days total, of the 419 days total to date; also only about 45% complete with pool build. After 419 days (7/12/21 signed contract) items still to be done: equipment, pool deck, coping, finish pool interior, electrical, and screen enclosure. At the bottom of our pool shell , we have a smelly green swamp of stagnant water, for the last 8 months. Also, after the initial meeting and contract signing…. No communication from Legacy at all. They basically just show up unannounced about 1 day a month.
They are also bankrupt Ch 11 as of 8/30/22.

    In ground pool install
    $60,275

Selecting Legacy Pools has been the worst decision of my life. We signed a contract with them in December 2020. We are still not complete and see no end in sight. It’s been 20 months and we still need electrical, interior finish, startup, & screen enclosure.

Their communication is atrocious. It takes multiple attempts to get any kind of response and then IF they ever respond, the answer is always “we’ll find out and get back to you”, which they never do. We have caught them in bold face lies about our project. This started from design when they stated the build would only take 7-9 months. They claim to be a “Luxury” pool builder but use all the same subcontractors as every other pool contractor.

For the work that has been completed, no one from Legacy was ever on site inspecting work performed. I feel I have managed most of my own project. There are Facebook complaint groups for Legacy Pools with hundreds of members. I cannot find any other groups like this for other Brevard County pool contractors. It is believed all the 5 star reviews on here are fake. We have watched friends/family/neighbors of ours have pools completed in 16 weeks with other reputable pool builders in Brevard County. We now know that this is not a supply chain or sub contractor issue like Legacy has repeatedly claimed, it is a Legacy Pools problem. Other pool contractors are having no problem completing pools in a timely manner.

We were required to pay a very large down payment upfront which was a mistake. I’ve paid 93% of my total cost. They have been featured on the local news for questionable conduct. I have feared them going out of business/bankruptcy the entire build. Even if they do complete my pool in the near future my family will never get back the pain, suffering, stress, anxiety, mental anguish, or nearly 2 years we missed out on while waiting for Legacy Pools to complete the work I’ve paid them to do. They have completely ruined any joy for what should have been a highlight of my life. There are too many other professional pool builders in Central Florida to choose from. I wish I had! 20 months is long enough. This company is a travesty. Complete my project!

    Build a pool
    $40,000

    Design was great!
    Everything else was terrible!
Cannot stress enough how terrible their workmanship, customer service, timeliness and excuses are. They do not have any employees that do construction. Everyone who worked on my pool was a sub contractor. They clogged my plumbing with cement, they left our pool site unsafe, they failed multiple inspections, they blamed the city of Orlando excessively, they missed every deadline and phase by at least 2 months. The total pool build was 7 months past contracted deadline.

Contact a Brevard County Sheriff department or Breward County Permit Department before hiring Legacy Pools. Also watch the channel 9 News special on them BEFORE you give them a nickel. Chad and Kristen Black new I was in radiation and took $20,000 deposit for our pool. The dug a hole, did rebar and paper. Then LIED to us about the gunite being backed up? Called the gunite company and they weren’t shooting their pools for NON PAYMENT! Legacy took another $35,000 before we knew this but they knew! Our paper went bad (to long waiting on gunite) and the hole caved in. A accident happened along with a hospital trip do to the cave in. We then had to have everything inspected, dug and REDONE. We canceled our contract-per their own contract (in person and certified mail) and they did not answer or return our $55,0000. My husband (before all the work had to be redone) told them in that letter return $$35,000 and keep the $20,000 for the work that was done, the permit costs and the design. Thirty days and nothing-not a call not a dime. They answered a complaint to the BBB with their lawyer is handling it and we don’t respond? Never heard from a lawyer (except the one WE hired against them) and we have informed delivery, UPS and FedEx apps which all say what is coming that day-nothing from Legacy or their lawyer. Email-checked spam even NOTHING! Cell phone has logs, again nothing. Total LIE! They claim other pool companies are against them? Who, what company? None! If you want them to finish your pool after two years they force you to remove any bad reviews!!! Chad Black has been arrested for fraud in two other states. They have been on Oprah-they are full time swindlers. Yes, they got a $2,000,000 loan AFTER we asked to cancel our contract (as they were broke) but they have over 400 open permits they have $55,000 of our money. Let’s say they owed each of those 400 open permits $10,000 in work they would need a 4 million dollar loan BEFORE they pay back all the back contractors. Plus, they have to pay that large loan. They did good work for some of their church friends. Heck-they finished their own pool recently but the rest of us? Nothing, unless you remove the truth said that is negative and do what they ask. We are perusing a $125,000 lawsuit do to what we have had to put out on their mess. We are also look for felony charges for fraud-since they took over $35,000 while knowing they couldn’t get our gunite done within the time period. They needed our money to pay someone else and we got a hole that collapsed, a hospital bill (do to the collapse) and tons of inspections THEN to redo everything they did and pay for new permits in owner builder (no other pool company wants to work on their mess!) Channel 9, a call to Brevard County Permits or sheriff and all your answers will appear!

The worst company you can hire to do your pool. They don't meet the deadlines, don't answer your calls, they don't give you a heads up of when they are going to do something. We signed a contract May 2021 and it wasn't until December 2021 they came for groundbreaking after that, they never came back. The rain has corroded the ground. One of our neighbors have called the city several times because the drain hose broke and filled the sidewalk with sediment and water and they never came to fix it. To avoid the city's complaint, we had to replace it. Emotionally it has been a disaster for me, this situation has created a lot of anxiety. They haven't done anything else yet.

    Build a pool

Do not use this pool company under any circumstances!! A little background. Back in 2019 my wife and I decided we wanted to build her a mini pool area since she is very Ill and doesn't get out of the house much due to this. We started looking and came across legacy pools. We contacted a few places and legacy was the nicest and most willing to work with us on our design. The entire process was amazing in the beginning. On Dec 2020 we finally signed for the pool area and are doing the cash option for payments. January 2021 my wife is hospitalized and I still keep our appointment for picking finishing and go complete that. Was told okay permit time will take a few months just due to being Orange County. This is where it all fell apart and the communication stopped. Months went by with little to no updates. Finally in December of 2021 we heard they were ready to break ground. We were told the phase 1 site supervisor would be by to walk the property and make sure we are ready and tell us what day the dig team would arrive. This never happened...the dig team showed up and luckily were nice enough to help remove some fence panels to gain access to the yard. They asked if we were told they weee coming that day and I said no. He was pretty upset as he is just a sub contractor (and the sub contractors so far have been very nice people). So they dig and then do the framing. Well all this time we have questions about the project. We keep reaching out to the office to see if our site supervisor can call us please. To our surprise we are told after about a week of calls and e-mails that he is saying he has takes to us already. Finally he returns a call and says he will be out. He comes out and acts like nothing is wrong. He has many excuses for why he never contacted us, even using food poisoning as one them!! Needless to say after that one day never heard or takes to him again as he goes MIA. Well we get to the gunite shot in and it sites for weeks. Meanwhile while it is sitting we get told "on the gunite company is going to send you a certified letter that if we don't pay they will put a lien on your house." Well I have made all my scheduled payments on time.... Now we are having to use this new broken system legacy has for communication with your phase specialist cause we are in phase 2. Needless to say this system is horrible. After multiple attempts to find out anything we are told we are 2 weeks out from the plumbers coming. 5 weeks later we reach out again for any update. They never bothered to communicate any new timelines. We are told great news they will be out Tuesday or Wednesday to do it. Well Wednesday afternoon email back asking why no one showed up. We are told they have been trying to contact the plumbers all day and cannot contact them. So here we sit with this hole in the yard and giant pieces of concrete laying around from the old slab they pulled up. Lie after lie after lie from the build people. The owner by the way is impossible to get to. I was told he is never in the office and usually away on personal travel. I could keep going but at this point you get the picture. Just pleas never use this company no matter how engaged and amazing they seem in the buying phase.

Worst contractor I've ever worked with. Promises broken and lies are the norm. ANY COMPANY WOULD BE A BETTER CHOICE. It's January 2022 and we had a permit July 2020. My pool is still awaiting electrical, pool equipment and finish. Chad Black, the owner is a liar and should not have a contractor's license. I've filed an official complaint with the state.

    Pool Construction
    $65,000

In contract since April of 2020 and as of today still Pool not completed. Always excuses and lies for them to come and do simple work. Last time a worker was in my project was in September!!!!!! The owner even appear at my location promising to have the pool for use for my daughter sweetsixteen after party that was on Sunday November 14 and still no movement. He came around July and made so much promises and request for me to take down the negative comments I had. I did my part but he couldn’t fulfill his promise. Supposedly waiting on breakers for more than two month.

No electric job completed, one of the illumination is still above and not set correctly, Pavers job that I paid in full not completed, pavers already looking stain and grass growing from the pavers, my jacuzzi that they are suppose to come and set back in place is just sitting at the side for almost 2 years, have emails saying someone will show up and they never do and then they send me another email waiting for parts. Like I set this project last year in April with the plan of having it ready and my backyard ready for my daughters party. Sadly I had to spend over budget and perform a after party for my family at a hotel for them to use the pool as the came from NY, PR and Dr.

You call them no response, you email them and no response or excuses as someone will show up and again since September no one has. The last job perform in my backyard was done on June!!!!!

Felt embarrassed with my family as I couldn’t provide them a welcoming in my house as how my backyard look. As well feel I let my daughter down as she could invite none of her friends over to enjoy a great time in celebration. Funny part just install solar panel in my house and only took them 2 month with all process and these people have taken them more than year and half and still not even close to complete.

I’ll be posting pictures so you can see what I’m talking about and hopefully no one has to experience this dissatisfaction and disappointment as myself and my family has experience. Due that they keep posting new project and all these amazing picture but in reality the headache is not worth it.

Please read the entire thing and do yourself a favor. Go hire a legit pool company. Unless you want to manage your own project. Even their own subs don’t want to work with them. That’s why there is so much delay. They all come in and leave. If you are expecting any work done after you make your payment good luck with that. You are in for a long wait!! If you don’t believe me there is a Facebook group called “Legacy Pools Complaint” go read it for yourself. They are going to flag this review as fake and post bunch of fake 5 stars reviews themselves to keep their rating at/ around 4 stars. In reality this company only has 1-star reviews. I am going to cross post this to everywhere…

Pool was supposed to finish March 2021, but we are barely at 80%. Excuses after excuses. If you don't call and ask, they don't do any work.
Now approximately 8 weeks they are trying to get a person out to do footers for screen.7 weeks! They failed inspection twice on that. They can't even tell me when they are going to come out. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. I will be complaining to the state licensing board to begin with. That should stop them applying for new permits for a while.

    Update 5/22/2021
I have been talking to office staff for the last week and I was told crew would show up on Wednesday, but they didn't. On Wednesday they said tomorrow. On Thursday they said it will be done by the end of Saturday and still nothing. Supposedly they scheduled inspection for Monday 5/24 don't matter it won't pass anyway.

    Update 5/24/2021
They showed up yesterday to do the footers. Seems like good news, however, we just failed the same inspection 3rd. time. Owners aren't available to take my call. Last week I was told they are out of office and be back this week, but I just called the office they told me the same thing. They will be back next week. They are clearly avoiding their customers.

    Update 06/05/2021

Now I am told that they don't have the pavers. When the deck work started, I have asked them many times about the delivery of the materials. They kept saying it's on its way. Guess what, we don't have it and they don't know how long it will take

    Update, 11/10/2021
I stopped updating for a while. Here is where we stand as of today.
Pool is not completed. 8 months behind schedule. I have received the missing pavers that I have been waiting for since July. Deck is at 80% and hopefully someone will show up and finish it. They have created a check list but didn’t even complete 1 item. Here are the items that is still open. Equipment is as 95% not sure if it is going to work or not. Screen is done but still missing some thru bolts, there is a hole on one of the panels and, load bearing beam is crooked.

    Here is the check list:
1-The screen final inspection and bolts, hole in screen, middle beam not centered.
2-Finish the paver installation/ repair the driveway
    3-Umbrella holder.
    4-Chaise lounge chairs.
    5-Finish installing equipment.
6-Autofill and drain not finished, patch holes in the side of the wall.
    7-Interior finish

Only one thing to say. DON'T DO IT!! They contracts aren't worth the paper they are written on. They tell you 18 weeks in reality it is moths to years. They give you the run around no answers, cover excuses one and a half years after covid started. They take your money and THEN YOU NEVER HEAR FROM THEM YOU HAVE TO BEG THEM TO COME DO ANYTHING FOR YOU!! Chad black is the owner who claims to be a christian, he is nothing but a CROOK! He takes your money and goes on vacations. ANY OTHER POOL COMPANY BESIDES LEGACY POOLS!

    Pool construction
    $65,000

The experience I have had with Legacy is by far the worst construction experience. If I could do negative stars I would. This is the first negative review I have ever given a company. I have given Legacy multiple chances to avoid the negative review. I have emailed and spoke to the weekly to try to avoid doing this. Legacy started out amazing. We signed the contract in July 2020 and broke ground in Sept 2020. We was expecting to be done end of January 2021. Everything was going good until November 2020. then issue after issue. December 2020, Legacy insisted our ejector pipe was out of code. We got three separate plumbers out and none could find a code violation. Legacy refused to provide the code we was in violation of but repeated stated we had to get it in code before they would continue. December 2020, I contact the brevard county coding office. After getting them involved, Brevard county stated there was no code violation. Then things started moving forward in January 2021 until March 2021. We got our deck completed in March 17, 2021 and have been awaiting a work to continue since then. There has been minimum work in now 4 months. I email, call, and text but get excuse after excuse. I get told 3 to 4 weeks for our screen since March. End of June was told our equipment would be installed by end of week. Part of it was but still have boxes with equipment sitting on our grass. I was also told screen company was ready to install as soon as they got their permit. Permit came through end of June. Still no screen. This is after waiting since March to get this done with multiple delays and missed time frames Legacy provide us. Even offered to look at other options in April but was told we would have a screen in 3 weeks base case but 4 weeks worse case. Tile was suppose to be installed for steps and mosaic the last week of June as well. Step tile installed but mosaic not. I was told tile guy was out sick. Once again another excuse, they have more then one tile person. Less than a day (8 hours) of work has been done on-site since March 17, 2021.

We love this company! They were always upfront about everything even. Building through Covid was difficult, but they always assured us that we would get to the final product and that it would be great! They were right. Patience was required with all of the shortages and we are beyond grateful that we built with Legacy!

From design to pool owner education, the team at Legacy Pools far exceeded our expectations. Despite unprecedented challenges imposed on every business by covid-19, Chad Black and his exceptional crews were steadfast in their promises and treated us like family. We selected them, not because they were the cheapest, largest nor most experienced pool builders, but because their values and commitment to excellence were clear and true. Matt Abernathy, Designer, took our visions and enhanced them to perfection. He stayed engaged far after the ink dried in our contract and proved to us he truly cares about his clients. Nazare Serena served as our customer liaison and ensured we were kept in the loop of next steps, delays and resolutions. She far exceeded her responsibilities and is a true asset to Legacy Pools. Finally, Eddie Rios provided us education on being first time pool owners and tied up all loose ends with great care and urgency. Not only would we recommend Legacy Pools to potential investors, we would, without a doubt, invest with them for future endeavors.

RUN RUN RUN FAR AWAY! Don't believe their promises. They will leave you with a mess of a mediocre pool and leave with headaches.

Construction took over a year unlike the 6 months they promised. They contract out and those contractors leave a mess and do shotty work. We have water that collects in a certain spot on the patio. We had to buy new shutters because of them. Made them put a retainment wall in after weeks of telling thwm why it needed to be done, tile was done wrong. And now 1 year after filling the pool with water we have a leak and the PVR system isn't working. These people will steal your money.

They keep getting ran out of different states and setting up shop somewhere new to steal more money.

Don't! Just DON'T! This has been the most horrible experience ever! Our dif date was 04/02/2020. As of today (03/13/2021) our pool is not complete. The final deck is not done, there are massive cracks in our deck, our yard has been destroyed around our pool equipment and where Legacy decided they wanted to dump their sludge. It was determined we have a leak 2 weeks ago, all communication has stopped!

We have water in our pool, we are able to swim however, I am constantly worried about "what's to come" with this pool!! We never saw any of the inspections or paperwork!

During the build of the pool, we kept hearing the covid excuse. I call BS! Our house was being built at the same time! Our home builder was able to deliver a month early and that contract was for NINE months where Legacy promised 16 weeks!

The lack of communication, compassion, quality of work is HORRIBLE! Just to have one of their employees try to bribe us for a good review after the water went in.

Save yourself the money, time, and worry and find someone else!

FYI. Legacy submits the listed value on ALL permits. Our pool was 3.5X what the permit was filed for.

    Pool construction

I have been very disappointed in Legacy Pools. As of now, we are nearly 8 months past the scheduled completion time with no indication from Legacy that they will ever complete our pool. We are sitting on the 5th failed inspection, and it seems that Legacy has abandoned our project. Last I heard from them was a month ago, but they never showed up and I have not heard anything from them since. The workmanship has been very poor each step of the way. For example, they pulled up pavers from the front side of my house to support the rebar in the pool. After three failed inspections for the pre-sod grade, they said they didn't know how to do it and my wife and I were required to do the work ourselves to pass the inspection (their work was awful, by the way). They also failed the electrical inspection. We have had to do a lot of the work ourselves, which Legacy should have done such as cleaning concrete out of the street, grouting the pool tile, picking up construction debris, repairing damage to neighbors property and our pool, pre-sod grade, repair gutters, etc. We still have to repair the deck, which appears will be quite expensive. The deck and screen enclosure warranties were voided due to Legacy having to tear out the deck and screen enclosure due to poor workmanship, and we still have ongoing issues with both. The project manager has done a very poor job managing our project, and communication has been horrendous. When they do communicate, it has nearly always been untruthful. They have left us high and dry. Not only do they do very poor work, they lack integrity. The city told me that they have received many complaints about Legacy Pools. I know of several sub-contractors that no longer work for Legacy due to them not being paid. I have seen other pool builders complete pools with much higher quality that started long after our project began. Although there are many, many more issues I've had that are not listed here, I hope you consider what I have stated, along with other reviews, and select a more reputable and experienced pool builder. I strongly recommend you do NOT contract with Legacy Pools.

    build a pool
    $58,000

Worst experience of my 5-year-long home improvement process. Signed the contract July 14th. Permitted in December because they had to redo the drawings. Started Dig January 29th, 2020. As of today, November 5th, 2020, my pool is still not done. They installed the water line tile for my risers wrong and it took three times to correct it. They never even cleaned those tiles, they still have quickset and grout on the tiles. When they sprayed the gunite, the swimstep in the deep end was so uneven and not level that it was very noticeable. They kept telling me for 5 months the interior finish people would fix it. When the project manager finally did come out (after I had mentioned it about a dozed times to various employees), he made one of their own guys come out, remove the step tile, and level it out before the finish people got there. Which delayed my interior being done by another week. Poured the foundation for my Elite Roof in the wrong place, and when the awning people came out to install it, they hit sand instead of cement. They were told they were installing the posts in the wrong place, and had to be farther back from the pool edge. However, they were installing it according to the specs. I had to have my paver person pour different footings so that when they came back out they could install it in the right place. When they backfilled the area for the risers, they just pushed dirt in there instead of using a rod to poke holes while hosing the dirt to make sure it was compacted. Now I have to have my paver installer come out once a month to redo the pavers on the top of the risers because they keep sinking. They did not install the color rings on my lights when they installed the lights, which "finishes" the lights so it's not just a bulb sitting there. The interior finish was completely messed up, with big water stains and inconsistent colors throughout. All of the steps, the swim step, and the ledge where the step tiles are, is rough and gouged out, not flat and smooth. There is a big bump on my beach ledge where the chairs sit that is uneven. It was Barbados Blue, a beautiful deep blue color, and they did an "acid bath" on it to cover up the mistakes. My pool looks black now, and is what is referred to as a "lagoon" pool, meaning it is a very dark greenish-blue color that looks like a lagoon. Not what I chose at all! They still have to installed the main drain covers, and my pool service company advised me not to swim in the pool, as the suction from the main drain is very powerful without covers on it and can actually cause drowning. I have been asking for a month for them to please install these. There was very little communication while the pool was being built, I had to beg for answers and send multiple e-mails for the same issue until I got a reply. The project manager showed up twice in 6 months during the build process. I have now had 3 different project managers on this job. They use sub-par contractors and don't check their work. The company that did my pool finish actually had a guy smoking a cigarette while doing my finish, and put his cigarette out on the bottom of my finished pool, then wiped over it with a trowel. At least he put his butt in his bucket, which he then dumped out in my yard. I had blue specks of cement all over my screens and pavers after they left. The screen enclosure keeps leaking water out of the supports for days after it rains and causes three spots on my deck to turn green with algae. It took a month to get someone to come out and take the plastic out of my umbrella holder on the beach because the finish company got cement on it and I couldn't get it out. Now, I just found out that because of the acid bath they did, my Calcium levels are through the roof and the only way to fix that is to slowly drain the pool about a foot, fill it, drain it, fill it, etc, until I get the calcium back to normal levels.

I am now calling an attorney so I can get my pool refinished by a different company.

Do not use this company, you WILL be sorry! They don't care about your pool, they don't check their sub's work, and they certainly don't pay attention to detail. The is no communication during the process, and their attitude is that "they will let you know when there's something you need to know" (a direct quote from my project manager).
