Our home was in desperate need of a roof, flashing of two masonry fireplaces, 4 skylight replacements (each one was 3 feet by 8 feet), and the open deck also needed to be reconstructed. We looked around at various other companies that said they could perform the task, but we decided to give the project to Advanced Construction and Repair of Indiana (ACRI) because of the quality of materials they used, but also with the though sit-down ‘kitchen table’ explanation of every facet of what they were going to perform. This was during the supply-chain fiasco and material as hard to find, especially the skylights.
We knew the skylights were going to be a problem because of the unusual size and thus the price was going to be more as they would be “custom”. ACRI explained that the best approach would be to have two projects the deck would be a project, while the roof & skylights would be another project; we were in agreement with that and signed the inclusive contract.
The deck was completed as scheduled and ACRI did a wonderful job, the roof and skylights were a different matter; ACRI could get the skylights, but when they were shipped to ACRI they did not meet ACRI’s standard…you see, the owner of ACRI is very particular and when he takes/works on a project, he treats it as if he was working on his own home! We found that out early on. After many attempts to obtain skylights that met his standard, he offered two options: 1) completely get rid of all the skylights, or 2) go with a better smaller dimension (32 inched by 6 feet) skylights. We picked option two because that is why we bought the home in the first place; then he said, “…because the inside will be smaller, I will completely do the necessary work on the inside (drywall and painting the ceiling, etc) if you will pay 50% of that cost.” Total contract of both projects was completed, we are extremely satisfied with all the work that ACRI performed and can’t say enough about their professional expertise; especially dealing with the skylight situation.
