My wife and I fired M.A. Swiastyn Building Co and his deck company Great Decks for Less half way through our deck project.
Mark Swiatsyn (owner) was so rude and arrogant that I made him leave our property.
Mark made multiple mistakes on our deck such as the posts/beam being 3” off from end to end on a small 12’ x 12’ deck and did not measure the landing correctly so i’m left with a board thats visibly cut wrong. He repaired the visible post/beam issue but it wasn’t without an argument.
He was an insanely combative and belligerent person who my wife and I did not feel comfortable working with. Mark and his son Mark Jr obviously did not get along and it was very apparent and awkward, this dynamic was very uncomfortable on our job site.
It took him 5 weeks to build a 12’ x 12’ deck that had multiple mistakes so we fired him before he could start our Pergola project.
If Mark Swiastyn attempts to argue this post, I will upload our entire text chain so the public can decide from those texts if they want to work with M.A. Swiastyn Building Co and Great decks for Less.
Consider yourself warned and do not use this company.

Mark was very easy to deal with on the front end, during construction and made sure he addressed all of our tweaks at the end. His family crew was meticulous, conscientious about cleaning up at the end of each day and very friendly. I would recommend M.A. Swiastyn Building Co for any decking needs. Their price was considerably less than four other competitors we had quote our deck. Well done!
