Douglas Lee Higginbotham represented himself as a contractor who could do the outside painting of our house. He wanted half down on the job, wrote a contract that promised work would start on 7/24/2018. We agreed based on the pictures he had posted on his website of other houses he had painted. He did not show up on the day promised, or the next day. When I called and left a message stating he either do the job or give us our money back, he came right away. He had a lot of excuses about why he couldn't come before. He then started putting up a ladder and getting paint out, etc. He did less than half a day's work, then left. He left a big mess behind. When I called and emailed repeatedly thereafter, he never responded. I called Labor and Industries and they told me that he was NOT a licensed contractor and had no bond that I could file against. The police told me that it would be regarded as a civil case and I would have to sue him to get my money back, which was unlikely. He basically stole our money and is no better than a common thief. DO NOT LET HIM ON YOUR PROPERTY.
