Dustin and his company were hired through a general contractor to install windows and doors on my home. Met with Dustin prior and I will admit I genuinely liked him and his crew as people. I also can say that when the work began I gave him compliments on their work, they seemed to be starting off good. As time progressed through the job, there was something like 14 windows plus a couple doors I began to notice issues. From the trim not being able to be used again as the jams were different, even though Dustin himself did all the measuring, yes, one could say the person ordering the windows had a part as well, I'm 100% trying to be as neutral here as I can with some of the issues but I did have to re-trim the entire home which was not expected or told I would need to. So trim plus painting is in the thousands of dollars, nobody even batted an eye and acted like "oh well". The bigger issues began when he installed two nearly floor to ceiling sidelights on my deck and the windows were set up off the floor approx 1 inch and he didn't insulate under the window which I could see light through from the interior to the outside at night. The next was when they installed the new front double door, yes double doors are tough to install (I used to build full time so I know this) his crew installed it incorrectly so much that the door was eventually actually removed and a new one ordered to replace it. It was installed out of square, not level, the installer drilled holes into the threshold to try and make the stationary door pins fit, it was simply messed up and Dustin had to return weeks later to fix. The crew even scratched the door from trying to install it, they spent all day on one door and it was never right. Dustin himself was not there that day and when he came back and I asked he said "I shouldn't have had the guys install that without me the double doors are hard", yes, he shouldn't have but the $6,000 door was to roughed up now and had to go. Once they put in the front door I told him I left some cedar they could install under the threshold on the exterior which he decided not to so now the threshold sticks past the exterior deck with no support, the manufacturer came to look after and said yes there needs to be a board under it. I've asked Dustin several times to look at it, also sent pictures all to fall on deaf ears. The guys also hit my kitchen ceiling when carrying windows in, yes, accidents happens, but, the smooth ceiling needs to be fixed and Dustin is refusing to take care of it by not replying to me even though I've sent dozens of messages, called, left voice mails and sent photos. Also, he was standing right next to me when the guys hit it and we spoke about it but he's been paid and isn't willing to come back. Since it's a smooth ceiling and in a large room the two bids I have so far to fix the gouge in the sheet-rock will require painting all the area so it blends and is over $2,000 which I'm now stuck with. There was also a door that he left 3 hinge screws out of all together and the secondary door (double door) the locking was not adjusted correctly and required the door to actually be re positioned to make it square to work he refused to come fix and eventually that manufacturer sent someone out to do for him at my expense. I sent Dustin photos of all of this, and have been patiently waiting for 6 plus months before writing this review. I really was patient and would have hoped he'd come back but I guess since he was paid by the contractor he feels no obligation. I have been in the real estate business, and working with many builders for 3 decades now, one of the worst customer service companies after the fact when there are issues I've ever seen. I would not recommend whatsoever. These were my experiences with Vermillion Creek Homes and the owner of. I do have all the texts, photos and screen shots of the calls asking him to come help me clear up these issues that none have been returned. I have never written a bad review in my life, you won't find one on line from me anywhere so this isn't taken lightly but after months and months and the fact I'm paying for the ceiling now without even a simple calling me back or even stopping out is just not right. Its sad the state of some contractors now days.
