***WARNING: stay away from this contractor*** Martin Houck is a price gouging extortionist. You WILL have a bad experience. He cant even read very simple plans. We hired him to do 3 very small tasks in a bathroom that should have taken absolutely no more than 6-8 hours. Because he has no idea what he is doing he spent 3 days on it and still managed to screw it up. He framed the shower 7" larger than the plan showed even after marking the proper dimensions on the floor for him. He also installed the wrong type of HVAC boot leaving 2" of metal hanging below the ceiling line. He then presented an invoice for double the going rate and demanded that we pay the full amount or he would waste our time in small claims court. We would have easily defeated him in court but not without wasting a significant amount of time. We not only had to pay him twice the appropriate value for the work but also had to pay $742.50 to correct his errors. He is severely incompetent and should have his license revoked. I wouldn't have even given him the one star but zero stars was not an option. Be careful out there, avoid Houck Construction!
