Medlock Construction came in BEHIND a previous contractor and truly turned things around on a basement finishing project. From rerouting gas lines, HVAC work, making the best of a previously bad situation...Medlock team came in, made us feel comfortable, stayed in communication with us and helped us understand the work being done. Medlock will remain on my contractors list for future projects..

By Sandra J.February 18, 2015Install new furnace, central air, and hot water heater2 daysHorrible!!!Read more
My experience with Medlock Construction was horrendous. In March 2014 they installed a new furnace, central air, and a hot water heater. After 3 months, when I changed the filter, the central air stopped working and there were electrical sparks coming from exposed wires. After numerous calls for help, not only was my daughter cursed at, but was also hung up on. After several hours of pleading with the person who did the installations (Suzette), she finally arrived. She said the filter could not be changed while the air is on (I was never told this before) and she laughed at me because she said the electrical sparks were harmless and the air stopped working because the exposed wires were touching. She wrapped the wires and left them hanging, along with a heavy coil, which made it impossible to change the filter without someone to assist me. She promised to return the next day to correct this and install something to make it easier to access. She never returned. On November 11, 2014 the furnace stopped working. Once again I callled Suzette (Medlock's employee) and did not get a rerun call. So I had no choice but to call a furnace repair company. The technician arrived within the hour. The condensation hose had been installed incorrectly (hanging outside) and water had frozen and backed up into the pump. He cleared all the ice and pushed the hose into the wall as far as he could, but warned that this would happen again until the condensation hose was rerouted into the house. On January 4, 2015, the hose froze again and I had no heat. I'm a disabled senior on a fixed income and could not afford another service call. So I had to pull the hose into the furnace room and tape it to a bucket so the water could drain and empty it several times a day. On January 6, I reported this to the Better Business Bureau. The Black United Fund of Illinois had contracted with Medlock Construction to do these installations, so I lodged my initial complaint against them. Due to no response from The Black United Fund the BBB closed the case on January 30, 2015 as "Unanswered ". Since physically I could no longer continue to empty buckets of water, my daughter helped me reroute the condensation hose to the ejector pump (on the opposite side of the basement). I FINALLY received a phone call from Ms. Dunmore with the Black United Fund on February 6, 2015. She wanted to have Medlock Construction employee (Suzette) redo the work. They came on February 17, 2015 (3 months later) to make the repairs. Since I had already rerouted the hose, all she did was wrap wires and lift the coil so I could change the filter without assistance and moved a PVC pipe so I could open the furnace room door completely. Also I informed Suzette that pump she installed was cheap and flimsy and the original one was less than a year old and with installation had cost me over $300.00. She said she threw it away!!! I'm giving Medlock Construction one star because so far the hot water heater is still working.

By Black C.July 23, 2014install furnace and ac unit3 daysShould Not Be In Business
Medlock installed a furnace and central air unit in my home. The first time we went to change the filter, five wires fell out touched some metal and sparked a flame. The owner was horrible to deal with and very disrespectful. They were hired by the Black United Fund. Never ever ever allow them into your home to do any work.
