Caution to all current and potential future clients of Meridian Build Group: this company and its owner Steve Hickey are little more than a ponzi scheme masquerading as a general contractor. We hired MBG for a full remodel on a single family home in 2021 involving all new plumbing, electrical, bathrooms, kitchens etc.
Initially the job encountered a variety of the typical issues to be expected in a renovation of this size but things spiraled out of control rapidly roughly six months in when it became obvious our completion date would be missed dramatically and budgets started running over. The work begin in February of 2021 and the renovation technically still isn’t complete as of March 2022 as there are punch list items to be completed.
The true issue, and a word of caution is the clear and obvious fraud occurring as it is now coming to light that Meridian was not paying any of their subcontractors during the renovation all the while invoicing us monthly and demanding payment monthly.
Since the job has been “complete” I have received numerous calls from subcontractors threatening to lien our home due to non-payment by Meridian. Furthermore and unfortunately it appears that we are no Steve’s only victims and this practice was likely occurring on other jobs, as is the case with most fraudsters / criminals / charlatans.
There are other review about Meridian being unable to deliver in a timely manner, or their subcontractors not meeting deadlines. This likely is due to Meridian simply not paying their own bills with the subcontractor.
To all potential future clients: stay away from Meridian
To all current & prior clients: I'm certain we aren't the only ones, please protect yourselves as best you can immediately.
