    build a deck, plunge pool and room addition
    $100,000

    Nelson & Sons Construction was hired in April 2020 to build a deck, small plunge pool, & 20 x 20 bedroom addition. They requested 40% down for supplies, then sent out weekly invoices for labor. Their work schedule was very erratic, sometimes not showing for an entire week or more. The addition work started in October, 2020. The plan I saw didn't include measurements, but since it was all spelled out in the estimate, I felt ok. It wasn't until March of 2021 that I was able to get in and measure. The bedroom addition measured 12 x 15. I'd been paying weekly invoices on the square footage estimate of a 20 x 20 bedroom since October. After I did the math, I realized I had already paid him approx. $38,000 more than I should have. Attempts to reach Travis to resolve this went unanswered, he closed the building permit and cleared out his tools and supplies. The pool, deck and addition were left uncompleted, and my property was left a complete mess.

    Entire house remodel

    Hired Nelson and Sons for renovation of entire home. Scope of work was not well planned out and quality of workmanship was shoddy at best. I would NOT recommend to anyone wanting timely and quality work to be done. Not a reputable business and very, very unprofessional when things went sideways.

    We had the worst experience with this company. They were very unprofessional and did not do the work they said they would but billed for hours worth of work. We did fire them in which they became angry and violent and trespassed onto the property. The police had to get involved. They proceeded to steal material from the house. Do not use this company

    Home addition/remodel

    Due to a physical handicap we hired them to do an addition for a master bedroom, master bathroom and laundry room, as well as remodel an existing hall bathroom and deck to make things more handicapped accessible. The company is the most unprofessional we have ever dealt with. We were lied to numerous times, and we also had extra items we purchased for the job stolen from us. During the project, they kept sending invoices to be paid and we paid them. Until we noticed our payments totaled the entire cost of our project and they weren't even finished with the first stage of our project. We understood there was an estimate in cost but we asked Travis several times if we were on budget and he assured us the budget was fine. Then we were told they would not finish our deck and hall bathroom remodel even though we paid for them in full.
    Their quality of workmanship is also very poor. We had wood floors installed and there is a noticeable ridge in the floor from where the existing floor meets up to the addition. We asked for dark stained wood trim throughout the addition, and everything is very light. The trim does not even match the doors. They used pine trim when the doors are hardwood and it looks like garbage. The ceiling finish is not smooth or even. He installed a door going from our laundry room to the deck and the trim on the bottom edge of the door is twice as wide as the trim on the top of the door. So either the door was not installed squarely, or the wall next to it is not level. The exterior fascia and gutters were done so poorly, we had to hire another company to come out and fix it to avoid damage to our property.
    Travis is so unprofessional, when one of his workers messed up a part of the job, he actually got into a fight with him on our property and the worker ended up getting knocked to the ground.
    He left our property in such a mess both inside and out. We have spent countless hours and hundreds of dollars to clean and fix things he has messed up. From construction debris left all over our home to having to hire a landscaper to repair the lawn he destroyed because due to my disability I couldn't do it on my own.
    There are so many other items he messed up. We will just tell you to stay away from Nelson and Sons Construction and do not hire them.
