Since 1969, New Leaf Inc has operated in Oak Harbor, Washington, specializing in commercial grounds maintenance and facility services. The organization was founded by families seeking employment opportunities for adults with disabilities, and its roots began with contracts for greenhouse gardening, lawn care, and cemetery maintenance. In 1973, New Leaf was awarded the first federal service contract under the Javits-Wagner-O'Day Act with Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, a partnership that continues to this day and represents the oldest active federal service contract under what is now known as the AbilityOne program. Currently, New Leaf provides comprehensive grounds maintenance across more than 500 acres, janitorial services for nearly 100 buildings at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, and dining attendant services at the Admiral Nimitz Galley. The company also holds contracts with the Defense Commissary Agency, supporting a range of federal facilities. Employing over 100 individuals, New Leaf remains dedicated to creating employment opportunities for people with disabilities while offering essential services throughout the Oak Harbor area.
