I hired New Visions to do the stucco on my house. The original contract included: materials and labor for removing the old vinyl siding and installing new stucco, installing 2 windows, a door, and paint, and Steve Turner also promised to add a custom element to the stucco, which ended up being the coins on the house corners. The company’s quote was $4k higher than any other company, so I went with them thinking they would do great work and because they offered a warranty. We had agreed that 2 new windows and a door would be installed. Right away they started fighting with me saying they would just put the windows in and I would have to do the trim and paint, but the problem is that I said from the beginning that I was super busy and I didn’t have time to do anything. He was trying to cut corners right from the start.
When he pulled the vinyl siding off, he found some exposed wires that went to an add-on we didn’t know about. Then Steve Turner said he wasn’t going to pay for it, so they hid it from the inspector. We were supposed to get 3 inspections: a pre-inspection, a brown coat, and a final. They only called in the brown coat so they could hide the wires behind the lath and paper. They passed it, and he went on leaving a fire hazard in my house.
Then they had workers who didn’t speak any English at all working here with no supervision. These guys messed up and caused damage to my house and New Visions would fire them and have a new worker the next day show up, having to fix what the other guy damaged. This happened at least three times with firing people and bringing in new people.
When they removed the original vinyl siding, they also removed the original vinyl soffits. After they started to install the stucco, I asked what they were going to do about covering the eves. They replied that that wasn’t part of the contract. So, an amendment to the contract was agreed upon, which I paid in full at the end of the contract. The amendment included: materials and labor to cover the exposed eves with painted lumber soffits, and to add an additional coin in the back side of the house which was not part of the original contract.
New Visions fought with me about everything, trying to cut corners everywhere they could. They bought this ¼-inch (at best) plywood to put up in the eves, and I told them that it was too thin and it would not work. They installed it anyway and it was bubbling everywhere. I told him this. Steve Turner said “I’m about done dealing with you. We can just settle this in court”. Vlad said they would just add another coat. Again, he was giving me excuses why it was OK, trying to get me to accept subpar work. After they put in the ¼-inch plywood and it was wavy, they put a 2-inch foam block border around the wood because it was so wavy. Even the foam block border was wavy, and this did not fix the problem. I couldn’t take any more fighting because it was 4 months later at this point, and he had originally said it would only take 4 weeks to do the job. This has caused problems with my entire life, family, my business, and everything. So I just signed off just to get them out of my life. One week later, it rained and everything fell apart. All of the eves came down from the wood being too thin it just buckled from the moisture. Worst company i have ever done business with! over 4 months later on a 3 week job and my place is torn apart and birds are now living in my attic. Steve refuses to fix the gutters that they damaged so my place is left unfinished and this is what i get for paying 15200

I had the WORST NIGHTMARE with Steven Turner, he did leak repairs for us months ago. His quote was $2800 more than other two pre-invoice I received for the project with same work scope, but I was willing to pay $2800 more for 10 years of peace of mind. Steve cut the corners from Day 1, he didn't follow the detailed work scope we discussed in the email. I took photos and argued with him next day, he didn't want to do the procedures he agreed on. I stopped arguing with him as I thought he provides 10 years warranty, if he fails the project and he will fix the problem anyway. But I am wrong, within 8 weeks, new stucco Steven installed had several deep cracks, he patched the cracks, looks ugly, don't match existing stucco texture. I asked Steve if the cracks will reappear, he said not likely, so I paid professional painting company to repaint the stucco wall comer to corner. It rained couple months later, we had LEAK AGAIN! More cracks are shown on new stucco, I contacted Steven and ask him to have the cracks fixed before next rain, he told me the cracks will not cause leak... The plywood inside of house was wet, black mold on the the wall. I removed the molds and dry the plywood with blower at my own cost. I begged Steven to have the cracks fixed again weeks ago, he refereed me to his friend Vlad (Atlas Plastering). Vlad came out to meet me at my property, I showed him the failed project that Steve did, Vlad tried to convince me that Steven didn't do anything wrong. Vlad didn't perform any leak inspection and asked me to sign the contract, he said he may redo EVERYTHING that Steven touched, and he will document everything, if he didn't find anything Steven did wrong, then I'm responsible the entire cost. I finally realized the game they're playing... Vlad worked for Steven until he started his own company Atlas Plastering in 2017.
I have independent stucco contractors looked at the project and I showed them the photos I took, they laughed hard and told me the same thing, they wouldn't cut the corner for the project with 10 years warranty granted...
Our life, our work and our health is totally changed since this project. We have to stay in the moldy house, I cleaned the mold and disinfected the moldy area every other week, but mold kept coming back, I'm having slight breathing problem, couldn't sleep whenever it rains, wake up at 4 am almost every day. I've never had this kind of nightmare before. I tried to be patient, patient, patient, waiting for Steven to have the cracks and other issues fixed, it's been almost 6 month, we had 3 heavy storms after this project is done, the brand new plywood installed was wet and dry, wet and dry, wet and dry.
I have the 15 pages email/text conversation from beginning of the project, and I took lots of photos during the project, and we both signed the contract with 10 years warranty. The project failed within 2 months, the industry standard warranty is one year for labor and material, NOT TO MENTION I paid more for 10 years warranty... I don't want to pursue legal action unless I have to, Steven seems fearless about the lawsuit as his partner is retired legal expert. But I believe the judge will rule the case (if I file) based on the evidences rather than the attorney who represents him.
I hope we can find resolution for both of us.
