    Verified Hire

The work was done okay on that one. Nir didn't bring paint to finish up the repainting after installation. Other than that they were good. The installation was good and quick and we have had no issues with the electrical.

    Bed and bath addition
    $100,000
    260 days

The project: a room and bath addition, which was critical to complete within four months of signing the contract. They assured us that we would have the highest quality, within the time frame, but that did not happen.

To start, I'll highlight what they aim to provide (taken directly from their website), and the grade we gave them. The reasons are explained in more detail further on

"We at Addition-Specialist understand that communication and accessibility are key to making this a truly Stress-Free Process for you. Encounter the highest level of integrity and quality of product available.
Simple and direct communication channel - Grade: D
Minimal scheduling and cost over-runs - Cost Grade: A, Schedule Grade: F
Projects are complete on time - Grade: F
    Stress-free commitment - Grade F-
Highest level of integrity and quality of product - Grade B

Communication: Our key contact was the project manager Zion, who was in charge of multiple projects and was back and forth to Israel etc. leaving large chunks of time without a clear line of communication. When he was gone, not much happened during the time. At the beginning of the project, he was more available for discussion. Later, when the project was about 70% complete, he clearly had other priorities and became really difficult to work with and a major struggle to get consistent work committed to the project. We were trying to work with Roy, but ultimately had to work directly with the owner, Nir. At that point things improved considerably, but we still had kind of confusing three way conversations between the project management and the crews. Details would fall through the cracks, and it wasn't until we had a dedicated crew on site that we were able to consistently see the results that we had been promised.
    Communication Grade: D

    Cost Over-runs and Scheduling:
Cost was one area that we were happy with. They stayed within the budget. Early on in the project there were corrections that they had to make with the plans that were under their responsibility to correct. They did so in a way that left us with a higher quality result, even when it clearly cost them more to do so. There was some work that they had to do that the city engineers requested, they took care of it without requiring anything additional from us. We stuck very closely to our original plans. When we did get an estimate for work that wasn't in the contract, it was always about 3x more than we were quoted by other reliable companies. So, we hired others to do the work if we did in order to keep the costs manageable. Overall the work was of good workmanship.
    Cost Grade: A

Scheduling was a struggle. They clearly had multiple projects and their main crew was pulled in multiple directions.1 or 2 days of work would get done, and then nothing for the rest of the week. They consistently passed inspections, which was great, but at the same time the minute we had a successful inspection, the team would vanish for a couple days. To the middle and end of the project, Zion and Roy were hardly in the picture - my wife and I felt like we had to take on more and more of project management and scheduling to make sure that the work progressed smoothly. This was exhausting and frustrating. The problems with scheduling caused the project to go a full FIVE MONTHS past the initial due date
    Scheduling: F

Project complete on time: Quite simply, due to the communication, management and scheduling issues - the project was five months late. Schedule was one of the highest priorities for us, we clearly communicated this to them repeatedly.
    On time Completion Grade: F

Stress free: Absolutely not, early on they were engaged and working with us closely, as the project progressed the stress increased as they lagged and we began taking on more and more of the work of the project (in addition to our time-intensive full time jobs). On top of that, there were times when we were arguing with them about payments, asking them finish the work for the installment, per the contract we had agreed to, and Zion would casually threaten legal action or placing a mechanics lien. By the end of the project, we were completely exhausted, my relationship with my wife was strained, and we had no life except for work and the house.
    Stress-free: F-

Quality product: The crews actually doing the work did a high-quality job. We are very happy with our new addition now that it is finished. What I'm also including in the "quality" category is the overall scope of the project. There were two significant items that the contractor had to cancel because they could not complete as we originally agreed. The credit that they gave back to us for the cancelled work was 1/5th of the value. So for that reason, I have to dock it down to a B. Integrity would mean a refund of a fair value for work that was not completed.
    Quality Product: B

The actual crew who is working on our house is doing a good job, but we are getting frustrated with Zion and Roy (the project managers) because we are now 2 months behind the promised schedule. The rules have changed as we go along. While the original estimate seemed reasonable, anything additional we've asked for pricing wise has been double or triple other estimates. They keep canceling status meetings. Work stalled for this week without telling us. We've called and emailed to ask what is going on and no one has responded. What we understand is that they are over committed and stretched thin. I hope in the future, they manage their communication, projects and workloads better to ensure that all projects are given the consideration they promise during their initial sales pitch.

Bathroom remodel, roof and gutter replacement. Window and insulation replacement and wooden siding t
    60 days

I am happy with the work that has been done. However there is much more to be done and it seems that all work has stopped. I am contracted for complete window replacement, as well as attic insulation and wooden siding to be replaced with stucco. Nothing has been done for over a month. I am open to a reasonable explanation for this delay. But unless I am contacted about this delay, I will run out of patience. Thank you for your attention to this. Ron Bernier. We called them regarding a new garage flooring(the previous one crack) for a company that you may think big, they did a good job of something simple-they also redid a lot of the electrical work for the room as well to make it all look pretty good. It was very simple and very closet.

Oshray and Eliran came over last month to talk about painting some of the rooms of our house. They where very nice and sweet guys. They seemed also very professional and know what stuff was. We had talked to three other guys previously and they seemed to be the most professional with the lowest estimates.

Came home from a long trip to find that our backyard had new pathways and a new gazebo. My wife is a real sweet heart. I suppose I could write a compliment for her, but did want to highlight the work that Addition Specialist did in putting them in. Were gone three weeks and our space looks completely different? It was so sweet of all involved-and apparently they had been there a couple of weeks before hand without knowing them.

I’m a single mother and I needed for a new room for my new baby. We converted a patio to a new room, something which was a biggish undertaking but they handled it-like the service Oshri did for me, and how he was friendly and charming. It was a clever idea a friend suggested and I want to shout my friend ann-but they where was the one who came through for us.

After waiting too long to redo the roof, they finally came in and pushed it in a great manner. We’re glad we did it before winter in southern California which can be surprisingly rainy for people from North Carolina-we thought we would get sunny weather everyday of the year. Nope the roof really worked like @#$! last year but this new one is holding up well.

I have used addition specials on 2 projects now. The first one was converting a guest bedroom to a dining room. I needed walls demoed, carpets replaced, walls repaired and painted, a new closet door and chair rail/baseboards installed. But there was a catch...I needed it done in 3 days because my husband and I were going out of town for 3 months. Most contractors would say yeah we could do it but it will cost a gazillion dollars and then not meet the deadline. Nir and his crew not only met our ridiculous deadline, he also gave me a fair price for the project. I was sooooo happy with his work that I gave each of his crew a large tip because I felt their hard work, quality craftsmanship and honesty deserved more than what he quoted me. I've had a lot of bad contractors and after hiring Nir, there's no need to search for another contractor.

Project 2: Give my record studio a facelift from a dark vibe to bright, clean and modern. It's been 10 years since we've done anything to our recording studio so we decided to renovate. After havin nir work on our house, we decide to use them again. I can't say enough good things about these guys. They were always on time, they go beyond 100% for you and they treat your space as if it were their own.

I don't normally go out of my way to write such a long review, but this company deserves it. There's actually an honest, hard working, caring contractor left in Los Angeles. They can do pretty anything from electric work to building a house. Anyone looking to get work done on their home/business and want it done right and on time, I HIGHLY recommend Addition speciaist. I wish I could give them 10 stars!!!

Really helped on a kitchen remodel when the first contractor disapeared one day. litterally disapeared. they handled the hastle of the permit-which aparently was a hastle, and got a hole into a kitchen. Its a functional space, but thats what we contracted for, and i am glad for function.

Nir s the best. He's quick and efficient! I won't hire anyone else for my house. He does what he says he's going to do and takes the creep factor of the nightmare contractor COMPLETELY out of the equation. I would recommend him to anyone!
