My experience with this nightmare of a company began in March of 2021. I wanted to install a woodburning cookstove in my kitchen in an existing chimney. Ken came out to discuss the scope of the work … indicated that he was formerly a contractor and could handle the small kitchen remodel required for the install (removing cabinet, counter and assured me that he could handle the work. I paid a deposit and asked for a COI (certificate of insurance) and a copy of his CT Home Improvement license. He wanted the deposits and said he’d have to look for thise documents. Shld have been my first clue; second was that he “underquoted” the job by about $1000! As a single mom, this was a big hit but I paid him the deposit and my stove was ordered. Original estimate was for the remodel work to be done by Mid to end of April and the stove was expected in June. Consistent delays, couldn’t “find” materials, came and worked 2 hours and left. My KITCHEN was a construction site for 7 months! His connections to the existing chimney liner (which he never inspected before cutting, destroyed the liner, incorrect materials were used and installed backward. After the stove arrived and was installed Mark (his worker at the time) couldn't get a first burn going…because the airflow was installed backward which was discovered later. The stove failed inspection several times and when it was determined that the stove had to be turned and an appliance moved to accommodate, Ken was annoyed and alleging I was changing the scope of work…dude the install failed…your responsibility as the professional to know how to safely install appliances you sell! THANK GOD we moved that appliance because that was when the shoddy, unsafe workmanship was revealed … this would have been hidden behind a partial wall and was a fire waitinf to happen. Did I mention that I am a single mother of a special needs person!! After being thoroughly disgusted with the BS and unsatisfactory work (after having paid him in full (remember the depth of the unsafe condition wasnt discovered until inspection. I had to hire amother company to complete the work, which required my chimney liner to have to be replaced because of the improper way Ken installed the connector. They did the work to correct the installation and get the stove working in 3 days and that included having to change out stove pipes…I now have had this project (which I budgeted for carefully) cost me significantly more money than expected. This isnt my first home reno so I know the questions to ask but I am not a contractor or stove installer…and shouldnt have to be.. this is an appliance that has the potential to caused serious injury or death if improperly installed. Im grateful that my bldg inspector wasnt someone who would just pass something until it was done right. DO NOT USE NORTHEAST WOODSTOVE! At this point Ken needs to refund the original install cost as well as the cost of the new company that I had to use. But I guess this is going to court. Oh and did I mention that after using the stove (not even on the optimal burn temp) for a month…the half bricks on the adjacent wall have started to pop off the wall (because they were installed with a bead of Liquid Nails!!! ). So now I have to decide how to repair a wall of half bricks because they are lifting…the worst experience EVER with a contractor!

By Jackie M.February 15, 2022Installation of a propane fireplace$5,000Read more
It was a nightmare situation I truly felt like I was on some sort of hidden camera series with how much went wrong and how long it took and the ridiculous amount of money spent. Wrong size stove was ordered told it could be made to fit but then inspector said it was extremely dangerous and that a credited fireplace installer should not be cutting corners. It took months just to get the owner to come out and actually look and see that it was not the right insert for our fireplace. then he ghosted us and said he could only refund 30% of what we paid because his guys threw out the box that the fireplace came in and he could not get a full refund from the manufacturer. even though he sells these in his store he could simply just put it out on the floor And sell it him Self. then we decided to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau he then called us back gotta us a smaller stove but he had no idea how to convert it from natural gas to propane on his own. He then had to hire someone not contracted with him to convert it then when he came to install it he still couldn’t finish installing it because he has no idea what he’s doing and has no business installing propane fireplaces so then the person he contracted had to come to our house twice once to fix all the mistakes and then again to fix another mistake ken of Northeast wood stove made this supposed to be a one month process or less it took us over five months we over paid and now have a smaller stove then what we paid for no refund of any type was given to us for the downgrade or the terrible experience please do not use this company use anyone else for your own sanity and money.

By CdpOctober 30, 2019repair my pellet stove$600
I hired Northeast Woodstove and Fireplace in East Windsor to fix my stove in April (needed a new auger motor). The owner seemed incompetent from the start. After several visits, he left only completing half the job, telling me he would return to complete it "before the snow flies" (yes, he actually said that). He never showed or called.
In desperation (November), I called around to find another repairman. I soon heard about Tyler Alberts from Integrity Heating Services - he came highly recommended.Tyler Alberts came in and discovered that the previous guy not only installed components backwards which ended up bending internal components, the guy left the job without putting everything back together... he also created a leak in my vent pipe.
Tyler fixed all the issues in short order and was finished inside of an hour. Why couldn't the other guy have done this? So incompetent.
Thank goodness there's people like Tyler Alberts out there: polite, knowledgeable, reasonable and very competent.
Contact Integrity Heating Services for first rate repairs and service. Stay FAR away from Northeast Woodstove.

We had a very disappointing experience with Northeast Wood Stoves. After placing a deposit in October 2020 for an install scheduled for early December, there were numerous delays, and communication was poor. We eventually decided to cancel the order due to the delays and concerns after reading reviews. When we contacted the owner, Ken, to request a refund, the process became difficult and frustrating.
Ken asked us not to open a case with our bank, but we proceeded to do so, as we were not seeing progress. Our bank ultimately refunded us after investigating, but we never received a refund directly from Northeast Wood Stoves. Communication was inconsistent, with responses coming only after leaving voicemails.
Based on our experience, I would recommend caution when dealing with this company.
