  We hired Olvera Landscaping to replace our wooden fence with vinyl last September after a fierce windstorm blew the wooden one down. I was a bit concerned after they installed the entire fence in one day - a job I thought would take at least a week or so. They didn’t set the posts in
  concrete but bolted them somehow to the existing concrete. I knew it was shoddy work but I didn’t say anything. Cruz convinced us that it was as sturdy as could be so us taking his word for it, finished paying him and we moved on. Well, we had another wind storm and the fence stayed standing but whatever it is the posts are bolted to are bent and now our fence is wavy. We’ve contacted Cruz to come and take look which he said he would but has yet to come out. Now he just ignores our calls. So frustrating.

  We hired Olvera Landscaping to get rid of the deck in our backyard and install a flagstone patio in its place. We also had them create a flower bed along the fence area and install a gate to the side of the house. The initial time estimate to complete the work was two weeks but work dragged on for almost two months since the work crew only showed up maybe once a week. It was very frustrating to have to call daily and check if they were coming to do the work.
  After the work was done, we noticed a small area of the wall which was damaged (by the deck removal) was not fixed and some of the grout in the patio area was peeling off. Unfortunately, this was noticed after we had paid Cruz the full amount. For the last month, we have been trying to get him to come and fix this. He mostly avoids our calls, but when we do get through he promises to send someone, but no one has showed up yet. He is unreliable and does not follow through on his word.

  Update: A week after my above post he sent someone to finish the work.

  Yard renovation

  $22,000

  We had Olvera Landscaping do a complete renovation of our backyard last year and spent $20K+. We were warned that we needed to be patient, but that the quality and price were worth it. We gave our deposit at the beginning of May with the estimated completion of three weeks. We gave the final payment at the end of August (3 ½ months). We knew it would take longer but did not expect to have weeks where there was a maximum of four hours of work done (not due to weather delays). The guys are really good but Cruz (the owner) takes on too many jobs and stretches them too thin.

  Cruz promised to provide me with some excess pavers for future mishaps, which have never been given. He said that the trees (12) and plants (32) he installed had a 1 year guarantee. Our beech tree never did well and he told us to give it until Spring to see if it came back. We contacted him as soon as we saw the neighborhood trees blooming and he is avoiding our calls and will not stand behind his guarantee.

  Overall, we are satisfied with our yard, but with the amount of money we spent I would expect promises and guarantees to be honored. If you use this company, be ready to constantly hound Cruz in order to get anything done.
