I recently had my driveway repaved. The actual paving work was excellent—smooth, level, and beautifully done. If I were rating just the asphalt work, it would be 5 stars. Unfortunately, several agreed-upon requests were not completed, and the lack of follow-through was disappointing.
I asked for a tree near the landscaping to be preserved. Craig agreed it was a nice feature and recommended keeping it—but it was removed during the job. He took notes during the estimate so I asked that he see if it could be recovered. I did not hear back but his wife, Marianne offered a $300 deduction from the bill. I would much rather have the tree, and I was disappointed at the attempt of recovery.
I also requested the pavers outside the bathroom door be replaced with concrete. While the pavers were removed, the area was left with exposed dirt. When I followed up, Craig told me to just buy pavers at Home Depot, which wasn’t what we discussed.
I had asked what could be done to prevent moss on the new concrete; Craig said it could be treated and that they’d take care of it—but this was not completed.
Lastly, I asked about addressing the drop-off at the end of the driveway. Craig said he could fix that too. When I saw this was not done, he said he would send links with options to purchase something, but I never received any links, even after asking Marianne.
Then, I received the $26,000 bill a week after the paving was done—the lawn was still torn up from irrigation work and cement was left scattered in the dirt. They did come out the next day, but by then the grass had no chance to recover.
Again, the actual paving was great, the workmen were amazing—but communication and follow-through were lacking. If you choose to work with Craig, I recommend you get everything in writing in the estimate.
