Last thoughts first: I deeply regret my experience with Peryra Construction located in Pittsburg. In fact, I never officially hired them in the first place.
During a room addition project at my home, I spoke with a worker named Raul (I do not know his last name) about a small side job to renovate my bathroom. He said he could do it for less and later told me that Mr. Dennis, would contact me. Mr. Dennis turned out to be the owner of Peryra Construction.
Most contractors had quoted me between $8,000 and $9,500 for the entire bathroom labor. Mr. Dennis estimated $5,750, which I found reasonable and assumed to be the full labor cost. After demolition, however, Raul claimed he had his own “labor cost,” demanding an additional $6,700. I told them this was unacceptable and misleading — total cost should have been disclosed upfront.
Then came the disaster. In the middle of the night, a plumbing line blew, flooding the house. My family spent hours cleaning water, not knowing the long-term damage caused to the structure. Mr. Dennis fixed the plumbing but refused to repaint the water-damaged areas, later agreeing only if I bought the paint while he provided labor.
He told me to buy five gallons of paint for a 220 sq. ft. room — thanks to a Home Depot associate, I learned only 1.5 gallons were needed. He later painted the kitchen ceiling (150 sq. ft.) and charged $900, even though this area was affected by their own plumbing mishap.
When it came time to install two medicine cabinets (16”x14”), he charged $900, and we reluctantly settled at $450. Installing two pre-fabricated vanities side by side cost another $2,800 — outrageous for such a small job.
My labor total reached $15,000, nearly double my original expectation. In my view, this was unethical and exploitative. Both Raul and Dennis also demanded all payments midway through construction, creating additional pressure.
Lastly, I question the authenticity of Peryra Construction’s five-star reviews — three posted in January 2024 and one in December 2023. I doubt their accuracy or whether those jobs even occurred.
This experience has caused me significant frustration, expense, and distress. I strongly advise homeowners to avoid this contractor.
